The Villa was a beautiful and well equipped place to stay the night. Our group consisted of 4 adults and 2 small children and the house accommodated us easily and in style. I highly recommend a stay here.

Wow wow wow! What an amazing place! It's a beautiful, historic villa on the main highway going through Hokitika. There's loads of room, it's beautifully decorated and clean, and Debbie is the perfect, welcoming host. It was just us and my husband's parents for one night, but I can't wait to come back with enough friends to fill the bedrooms for a week. Hokitika is a really cool place to spend time. The kitchen is large and well-equipped, and the couches are super comfy. Only issue for us - if you choose one of the street-facing bedrooms, I recommend you bring earplugs, as traffic is noisy and starts early =)

Response from Deborah:
Thank you for your awesome review Rachel. It's important to me that my guests enjoy their time at The Villa. So I was a bit shocked to read your earplugs comment. I'm not sure if you noticed all the road cones along Fitzherbert Street when you were staying? After your review I rang the council to find out exactly what they were doing. Turns out it was major work on a whole line of manholes which had sunk and were causing reverberating/clanging/banging issues whenever a vehicle went over them. During this work they had them only thinly covered so the noise was amplified. This IS NOT THE NORM!! Hence for anyone reading this review - please look at 8 years of reviews on (URL HIDDEN) holidayhouses, airbnb and (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) to see noise has only been mentioned three times - after the first two I double glazed the whole frontage. The work is being finished this week. So please note - no ear plugs required :) But Rachel - I'm soooo sorry your sleep was affected. I didn't know what the council was actually doing otherwise I would have let you know. They said the traffic noise would have been super loud over this period - heck!! I would not have been bothered at all had you just moved into another of the king bedrooms to ensure you slept well. I hope to meet you again one day if you come back to stay - you will be able to leave your earplugs behind I promise :) Kindest Debbie :)

Incredible home, we love it and everything is high quality. Radiant warmth emanates from fireplace and large rooms provide space to relax, will stay longer next trip to explore region. Very comfortable beds, dinner table accommodates everyone and this place left an impression.

The location was great. The accommodation was lovely and we were welcomed by a warm fire and a cosy atmosphere. There was nothing more wr could have asked for. I would recommend staying here that needed to stay in the hokitika area. Perfect for a big family or 6 person group.

Deborah went out of her way to make us feel welcome. When she learned we were running late, she offered to purchase steaks and other food for dinner to be ready upon our arrival. She also gave us some local options in town for dinner out. When we arrived at the Villa, there was a fire burning in the stove, the heat pump was on, and we were greeted by a lovely note and biscuits. The Villa was beautifully furnished and clean with all the necessary amenities.

This is an outstanding gem of a home. It's so beautiful and well appointed, plus it's convenient to town. The hosts are awesome! You will want to stay there because of them. Fresh eggs, milk, biscuits all left for us, and a fire laid in the wood stove. You can't beat this stellar place.

Rob and I have been involved in tourism and accommodation for coming up to 25 years now. We are also avid travellers and walkers and in combining the two - we aim for The Villa to offer you a home away from home that we ourselves would love to stay in - clean, comfortable, everything you need and some things you don't - and hosts that want you to have the best experience possible!
We also believe The Coast is a unique and very cool place to explore - so if we can help with an itinerary or local knowledge - we are at the end of the phone absolutely anytime :)
