This cottage is nestled among the palms and sea grapes, on a quiet part of the island. Yet it is just a short walk to the dock and to the beach, for the best of both worlds on Little Gasparilla Island! A perfect spot to disconnect and de-stress!

The space

The home has a sunny south-facing porch for warmth on chilly winter days and a screened-in porch for outdoor dining on balmy summer evenings. Please note that Little Gasparilla Island is a barrier island with no bridge. You cannot drive to the island. All access is via water taxi. There are no stores or restaurants on the island. This remoteness is part of what makes the island so unique, but keep in mind that access is not a simple matter of driving to the island and parking your drive to a marina on the mainland, park your car, catch the water taxi with all your luggage and groceries, and the taxi drops you at our dock, where our concierge can meet you with his golf cart. It requires a bit of an adventurous spirit!

Guest access

You have the entire house to yourselves PLUS access to Florida's most beautiful beach! You also have access to a dock slip if you wish to rent a kayak or a boat.

Interaction with guests

We live on the mainland, roughly 15 minutes from the island, so you will have plenty of privacy. We are always reachable by cell if you have issues, and our housekeeper lives on the island if you need immediate assistance. We have 911 service on the island for emergencies.

Laurie is great ,very helpful!! Loved having usable umbrellas and kayaks! So peaceful, quiet and relaxing. Loved watching the gopher tortoises in the yard. The greenery and coconut trees are wonderful! Property could use some sprucing up, coat of paint inside, carpets cleaned, ceiling in bedroom fixed, area under home cleaned up and organized. This has nothing to do with island weather etc. People are very friendly on this island.

Response from Laurie:
Thanks, Robin, for your constructive comments. The winter months are our busiest season and our cottages are booked back to back, with most of the routine maintenance taking place in a 4-hour window between rentals! We will definitely put these items on our to-do list for May which is when most of our "spring maintenance" takes place. Most of the island homes have very little storage so the downstairs area tends to be where everyone stores everything....from golf carts to beach paraphenalia. A shed would certainly be a bonus to keep everything more organized and out of sight. I will bring it to the owner's attention. Thanks again for choosing Serenity Cottage for your winter escape!

My husband Buddy and I have lived on Little Gasparilla Island for over 30 years and we love to introduce guests to the joys of tropical island living. We love the pristine beauty of the beach, the friendly atmosphere of the island and the "old Florida" laid back ambiance. The peace and quiet and relaxation that you experience while on the island make it unlike any other vacation!

We have another home on the mainland, so when you stay on the island, we give you lots of space and privacy...but if you need anything, we are nearby and our housekeeper lives on island if you have any maintenance issues. We want you to relax and embrace the island lifestyle.

No roads, no cars, no stress...long, lazy days spent reading a book on the beach, snorkeling off the sandbar, collecting shells from the beach and enjoying a fabulous sunset from the front porch....THIS is what makes a vacation on Little Gasparilla different from other Florida vacations! Tourists and traffic are just a mainland memory!

We can tell you where to find the best shells or shark's teeth, help you rent kayaks or stand up paddle boards, and tell you where the freshest seafood can be found (other than what you catch off the dock!)

Just bring your groceries, flip flops and a tropical attitude!
