Superbe. We love love loved the chateau so much we extended our stay. My favourite things were the shuttered windows and the turret, the gardens and the amazing home made configures for breakfast made by the host's mother. And the gorgeous Laurence.

Laurence and her father were perfect hosts for our family after arriving after a long day of driving through the countryside. The suite we rented was just as described/pictured - The castle is amazing, and the family felt like we were having a real castle experience. Also, they were quick to helped us out by calling a local restaurant and making sure the kitchen stayed open for us to get a wonderful late night dinner (probably one of the best of our trip). Breakfast was perfect and in the morning our 2 children loved chasing around the beautiful lawn playing princess and knight.

Response from Laurence:
Thank you so much for your kind remarks, it has been a real pleasure for all of us too. We are particulary touched when hosts who are coming from very far, enjoy their stay at home ! It is sometimes difficult to have a good Journey outside of native country when people make no effort to make you feel good... I 've already experimented that and I hated this ! As for the insects, when I saw you had left your windows opened with lights on when out for dinner, I knew it was a mistake ! But you don't know life in french country ?!!! I felt sorry for you, but I couldn't do anything to prevent this ! Really sorry ! Anyway, kindest regards, Laurence

Wonderful, charming château full of character! It is like stepping into another century! Very welcoming host who has thought carefully about what guests need- thank you, Laurence. Breakfast was simple but so delicious, served fresh bread and croissants made with local flour at a nearby windmill, perfectly accompanied by a selection of tasty jams (pear and raspberry- yum!!). I would love to return, and fully recommend le Château de la Vernède, a fabulous accommodation in the idyllic setting of Auvergne.

Directions to the Chateau were spot on and we found it very easily. After a long drive this oasis of calm was a very welcome break. The Chateau is beautiful both externally and internally. Laurence met us at the top of the steps and showed us around. The suite of rooms were spotlessly clean and full of beautiful furniture. She then recommended an excellent local restaurant where we had a great meal. The following morning the delicious breakfast was served in a panelled dining room. Before we left we strolled around the very well kept grounds and surrounding countryside before heading on our onward journey. We would very much recommend this place to stay.

Great 19th century castle with decoration and furniture as perfect match for the place.

Great castle experience! Laurence and her family were great hosts and gave us some nice tips and made dinner reservations for us in the lovely nearby town of Usson. Lovely place!

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at the chateau. Lawrence was a perfect host. We had drinks on the lawn and then ate in the evening at a wonderful restaurant (recommended by Lawrence) which had breath taking panoramic views from Usson. The chateau is a glorious building and the room we had was just perfect. Breakfast in the downstairs room was lovely with delicious home made jam and bread. Many thanks Paul and Judith
