Old Bidlake Farm is a smallholding situated in West Dorset in an AONB known as the Marshwood Vale, three miles from the dramatic Jurassic Coast. We offer fully furnished bell tents pitched in a secluded pasture field with breathtaking views.

The space

Our beautifully furnished bell tents offer you the chance to sleep under canvas close to nature but with all the modern facilities to make your stay comfortable and relaxing. The tents can accommodate a maximum of two adults and three children. They are furnished with futon beds and all the camping equipment you should need, including a large cool box, lanterns, cushions and blankets, even hot water bottles. Outside your tent there is a picnic bench and a wood burning rocket stove to cook on. Please note that you will need to bring your own pillows and sleeping bags/duvets.

Guest access

The barn facilities have been created with rustic charm and provide a fully equipped communal kitchen (with fridge, electric hob and oven, microwave, sockets for charging phones etc) and two washrooms with electric showers and flush toilets.

Interaction with guests

On booking we will send you a full inventory of everything that is provided with your bell tent, together with detailed instructions on how to find us. We will greet you on arrival, no matter what time of day, and show you around the campsite. Once settled in your tent we will respect your privacy so that you can truly relax but we live on site and are always available should you need anything.

Other things to note

Please note that you will only need to bring your own pillows sleeping bags or duvets. Everything else that you will need to camp is provided for you.

We had a wonderful couple of nights staying at Old Bidlake Farm as our debut family camping experience. The facilities are perfect - practical and pretty! Sue and Nick were great hosts, made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble... even helping us out with the pizza oven one night so we didn't go hungry! We were so impressed that really and truly everything you need to have a great stay is provided, you only need to turn up with your bedding, some food and a bunch of fun outdoor activities (we worked our way thru cricket, kite flying, frisbee, velcro catch, juggling balls and nerf games) to have an absolutely magic family time, as expressed in the words of our 8yr old "living like old fashioned times is so awesome I don't even miss the iPad one bit"

First experience of glamping and Sue made it a good one, comfy tents and well equipped kitchen, Sue and her husband both very friendly and helpful. Bridport was also a good position to explore the Jurassic coast, so,e beautiful coves and seaside towns, lots to do. Would recommend a visit.

We had a wonderful weekend in our Bell Tent, even though it was rainy we were cosy and dry under canvas! The facilities on site were beautifully kept, clean and tidy and the little touches like snuggly hot water bottles, vases of wild flowers and solar lanterns, lovely. We toasted marshmallows on our little log stove and cooked sausages under canvas in the field kitchen, the kids really enjoyed themselves! The farm site is tucked away down a quiet country lane (but easily found due to the clear instructions!) and the bell tent field was lit by strings of fairy lights to guide the way. The whole site was extremely well kept, we noticed wood chips had been scattered to prevent muddy walkways after the rain. Thank you for your warm hospitality, we will definitely try and book again next year, now we are fossil hunting experts!

Such a beautiful, restful escape. Beautiful tents, spaced out in an open field, all the cooking amenities you could need and so great to have the option of cooking outside or in the kitchen. Sue was so very friendly and helpful and went above and beyond with making our stay as enjoyable as possible. Would highly recommend!

Excellent place for a weekend break without the hassle. Everything has been well thought through and you won't be lacking in any equipment, it's all provided. Perfect place for a weekend break without needing to pack all the equipment! Very clean and all the little extra touches make the difference, plus the area and beaches are lovely, highly recommended!

We had a fantastic time at Old Bidlake Farm: if you would like to be in the outdoors but not a huge fan of camping (like me!), this is the perfect place. The tent was extremely comfortable with proper beds and being able to use a duvet rather than a sleeping bag was a treat. Sue and Nick have thought of everything to enable you to do outdoor living but with all the essentials too: a well equipped kitchen, a second cooking shed in the field with the tents and two washrooms with limitless hot water and good showers were perfect for making the stay much more comfortable. It's very family friendly and our nearly 3 year old LOVED his first ever camping trip: collecting the eggs from the chickens and just playing in the tent were huge highlights. We particularly liked all the little touches to make our family stay more relaxing: the baby bath for our son who (of course) refused the shower worked well, and there was a teddy on his bed to greet him which was very loved during our time there. We have already recommended Old Bidlake Farm to anyone who will listen and will continue to do so.
