Have you ever thought of sleeping by an active volcano? This big vacation house is your perfect opportunity. This vacation house is located at the slope of Hibok-Hibok volcano with all the amenities of a modern house and the charm to live in the middle of the jungle.

The space

Volcano house is vacation house situated in the midst of Hibok Hibok Volcano slope, one of the many active volcanoes in Camiguin Island. Although many ask if living in a volcano slope is dangerous, we answer them that it is a thousand more times dangerous to live in any urbanized city, or to ride in a moving car than to live in the midst of wild plants, trees and birds chirping nearby with an overlooking view of the ocean. We offer our guests tranquillity and harmony with nature with the amenities of a modern house (wifi, warm and cold bath, kitchen facilities, TV and a projector screen. We don’t provide alarm clocks as you we want you to relax and wake up to the sound of birdcalls in the morning.

Other things to note

The experience we offer in this house is to live like a local, in the middle of the lush forest of Hibok-Hibok Volcano. We try to make our home as comfortable as possible for us and our guest; but you should know that sometimes we can be affected by inconveniences of living in an area with lack of infrastructures: such as low pressure in our water system or slow internet connection.

Fermin's place is like a gold nugget in the middle of a stream of pebbles. That is the very first reaction I got when I saw it sitting in the middle of the lush rural mountain setting. The stylishness of the house offers an experience similar to the lifestyles of the rich and famous. It should be featured in a magazine as an example of an ideal mountain retreat/resort. It is still accessible if one rents a motorbike, which Fermin also offers. Ado was helpful in teaching me how to use and ride the scooter for the first time. My only regret is I learned to use the scooter on my last day, but I still made the most out of it going around Tuasan Falls, Blue Lagoon, Yumbing, Mambajao, and back to Fermin's place. There are some issues with the bugs and internet, for those who can't live with such inconveniences, but the beauty of the house and its location is more than enough to compensate for any small discomfort. And at its price per day, you get more than what you pay for. It is like five-star accommodations at a very much lower price. Savor the house, the view, and the surroundings. When it gets a bit too quiet, you can always hop on the scooter and go to Yumbing to enjoy the restaurants and other places to hang-out. I definitely hope to return.

This place is not for you if:- you don't like animals, can't handle the indoor/outdoor style living (i.e. bugs) or can't drive a scooter. However if the above doesn't apply to you then you will LOVE this place. It is undeniably beautiful. Nothing more peaceful and relaxing than sitting on the outdoor swing chair with a book. The pets are great. Guappa the cat is the cuddliest animal I have ever met. She even turned my cat hating boyfriend into a cat lover! And Isla and Jungle the dogs are super sweet (even if they are a bit stinky). Was so nice to come back every day and be greeted excitedly by the animals. Sometimes the neighbors dogs pop by as well and they are also very sweet! It's really good to have a well stocked kitchen as you can buy super cheap things from the market in the main town and make dinner in the evenings. The place is about 15 mins on a scooter up a super easy, safe road from the center of the town. Definitely worth it as you would never find somewhere like this closer to a town. It is totally unique and unlike any place I have ever stayed. You really get a feel for local life as well as you are away from anywhere touristy. On a clear evening you can even spot the Milky Way! As it does have the indoor/outdoor style to it you do find insects and bugs all over the place but the housekeepers are great and come everyday to clean. Sometimes it can feel a bit damp as the clouds come by but it's not really a problem. Don't expect much working wifi, you are on the side of a volcano on a tiny island after all! My only issue is the walls are so thin so if you have other guests staying who aren't considerate you may be woken during the night. We stayed for 2 and a half weeks and absolutely loved it. Very sad to leave, something very soothing about life in the mountains.

The place is not how it is described. If you're looking for a place to relax THIS is not the place for you. Noisy (dogs barking), dirty (bugs flying & physically attacks you). The heat is unbearable!

Response from Fermín:
Sometimes our place does not fit with everyone. We are sorry Clarisse had a hard time in our place; but you can read the rest of the reviews to understand that she is an exception. We did all we can for her to have a good time at our house, but still she did not understand the concept of our list and she even broke some of our house rules.

Good for pictures. Amazing nature. Difficult to reach. It's important to know is a private room but a shared house.

Fermin's place is the perfect place to go when you want to detach from the city life! It has a really beautiful view of some parts of Camiguin Island and i think you would appreciate it more if you book it on a nice summer day. His caretakers took good care of us and made sure we were ok. We are very happy to have experienced Camiguin Island at the Volcano House.
