About this listing
Privacy on secluded hillside above beautiful Playa Maderas. Watch the sunset over the Pacific from open air living room, dining deck or master bedroom veranda. Walk to yoga, surfing, restaurants and more. 6 miles to lively San Juan del Sur shopping and nightlife. Newly upgraded in 2016 solar power is excellent, but please remember to conserve electricity. Additionally, like many roads in Nica, our's is dirt and a 4WD is preferable.
The open air concept and breathtaking views at Seahorse House make it the perfect destination for those looking to get away. The living room provides plenty of comfortable seating and the kitchen/pantry is fully stocked with everything you would need to entertain. Have dinner and play games at the big table on the south deck. Beat the mid-day heat on the shaded breezy veranda off the master bedroom. The two bathrooms are both large and are stocked with clean towels. Enjoy nature's soundtrack of song birds and howler monkeys, or bring your own playlist for the house stereo system.
The two bedrooms each have a queen bed with fresh linens. Both have plenty of storage space and en suite bathrooms.
There is a deck to one side of the house which is great for eating dinner or relaxing after a day at the beach. The master bedroom has a wrap-around veranda with seating and two hammocks.
Seahorse House is rented to only one set of guests at a time who have exclusive use of the private residence. The rental space includes the entire second floor and all decks. Please respect the privacy of the 24 hour security guard/ gardener who resides on the first floor. Guests may use the outdoor shower at the home's entrance and eat fresh papaya fruit growing in the yard.
Interaction with guests
Property manager will greet guests with keys upon arrival and be available during stay. A cleaning service visits midweek with fresh linen, additional drinking water and removes garbage. The friendly and helpful security guard/ gardener has worked at Seahorse House for years. He is a local and speaks only spanish. He is very patient with guests asking questions using the house dictionary or an online translator.
Other things to note
The eco-friendly house runs off solar power. Typically we find the solar system provides plenty of electric for daily needs including lights, fans, stereo, refrigerator and device charging. The onsite gardener/security guard will be happy to run our generator for guests requiring above average electric usage.
• No parties or events
• No smoking
No coffee grounds down the sink. Toilet paper is not flushed, it goes in the cans. No smoking inside the house and use an ashtray. Please try not to waste water and electricity. The south facing deck is amazing for early morning breakfast and evening dinners. During the heat of the day we suggest relaxing on the shady, breezy north facing veranda.
I'm a 38, live in New England. Enjoy travel, fitness and the outdoors. I love music, sailing, surfing, family and living well. Since I am such a "beach person" I find myself in Central America during the long New England winter. Have a look at my Nicaragua guesthouse's website:
