This 1910 former Lanhydrock farmhouse in Cornwall is now a comfortable home, that spaciously sleeps 6. A small piece of peace nestled in an unspoilt Cornish valley near Wadebridge and just 8 miles from the north coast.
Come and stay at this former farmhouse and taste what life should be like. Wake up when you want, to peace and solitude. The house and garden offers space and a chance to think and just be yourself, a retreat from your everyday life. Time for you to write or paint or any creative activity you feel you would like to bring to do during your stay. Time to "just be"..........
Walk from the house along country lanes when you want to stretch your legs.
There are two double bedrooms and a twin bedroom with a large bathroom including separate shower and loo upstairs. Downstairs is another shower room/loo ideal for use when returning from the beach.
We have sunk our own bore hole which supplies the house with beautiful fresh water from the underground rivers way down beneath the house. No additives, it tastes as it should - of nothing. This is regularly tested under Microbiology and the results are within the Private Water Supplies Regulations (2009) limits.
A large corner sofa & wood burning stove in the sitting room is an added joy on chillier evenings, with an oak dining table seating 6 comfortably at the opposite end of the room. Solar panels help to power the modern Eco-electric Aga in the kitchen with a large scrubbed pine table and usual small kitchen equipment, fridge freezer and storage cupboards. The washing machine and dishwasher and boiler to heat the water are in the back-kitchen near the shower-room.
When the weather allows meals can be eaten at the table and chairs on the terrace or on a picnic rug under the shade of the silver birches. Fun can be had watching the antics of the sheep in the paddock alongside.
Guests have access to the rooms described above and the garden around the house, including the terrace by the kitchen and sitting room, parking at the front of the house. Two small rooms remain inaccessible to guests, these rooms, of course I will not use whilst you are in residence.
Interaction with guests
Either I will be locally available or I have friends or neighbours who could advise or assist.
Other things to note
This property is also sometimes listed for Bnb (see my other listing) and my reviews relate to that.
You will have sole use of the house during your booking.
This is my home - I look forward to offering it to you for your own holiday. I request no outdoor shoes worn in the house as rural area. No smoking inside or out.
Please be aware that if you have small children the twin bedroom is separated from the two double rooms by four stairs over the main stair well. No stair gates, cot or highchair.
From Mar 1 - May 31, 2018 the minimum stay is 7 nights.
I am the Mum of two almost grown up sons who have already flown the nest therefore I have the space and time to welcome my house guests to Cornwall where I have lived for 15 years. I am a keen walker and love to share my knowledge of the best coast paths on my Ordnance Survey maps.
These are some other simple things that bring me joy - growing my own fruit and vegetables, baking bread, my 2 Khaki Campbell Ducks who lay a daily egg each, Paddy my little Polo that had to replace my 30 year old VW camper-van that I like to escape up to the coast with my dachshund Florence for sea swims...........
