The space

The Space
Our two bedroom apartment is in the lower level of a 1908 home that was converted into a fourplex. Two queen beds and a futon are available for you and your guests. A private entry leads you into updated, European-inspired apartment that's close to everything.

Easy public transport from the airport: Just take the Light Rail train to the Capitol Hill Station and walk 4 blocks to the house!

The open layout groups the kitchen and living area together, with the bedrooms in the back. The building is built on a slope, so the bedrooms have limited light for an earthy sleeping option, while the living room and kitchen have light streaming in the large windows.

The bedrooms both have queen-sized beds and smooth, comfortable sheets. The first bedroom has a Murphy Bed/wall bed with a short queen comfy mattress. It can be put up and used as a den. The second bedroom has a queen bed that, due to the efficient use of space, needs to be crawled into from the foot of the bed.

The bathroom is a small bathroom with a shower (no tub).

There is a shared, large capacity washer and dryer on the property just 30 feet from your front door. Note: they are coin operated @$2total/load.

The whole space is yours. Designated parking may be available in the block to be reserved separately.

Seattle is fantastic, so I encourage you to take advantage of your time here!

The Neighborhood
Parks, grocery stores, and restaurants are all nearby. QFC supermarket is 4 blocks away. Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Safeway, and Walgreens are all close.

Capitol Hill is very central to Seattle. With quick access to I-5, I-90, Hwy 520 and Hwy 99, it is easy to get around town. Additionally, public transit, including Flex Cars and Car2Go, are readily available. There is so much within walking distance that vehicle transport may not be needed. Our apartment is walking distance to the Washington Convention Center. It’s a long walk to Pike's Place (or a quick bus ride). It’s a quick bus ride to light rail (or a walk to light rail). The Washington State Convention Center (800 Convention Pl, Seattle, WA 98101) is within walking distance: 0.86miles).

Getting Around
Parking is available on request. To make your life (and stay) easier, I have rented a parking space 1 block away for your convenience to reserve separately. On-street parking is free 8pm-7am and limited 2 hour zone parking during the day. Street parking is super challenging and can be frustrating-think San Francisco. With all the other transportation options in the area, Seattle can be done without a car, but if you have a car, we can arrange for parking.

This is part of a lovely home. In the very remote chance that you are interested in partying hard, this is not the space for you.

Keyless entry - the house has a key code locking system that is specific to you and the time you are booked for the apartment, so you can arrive and depart at any hour.

Please keep in mind that you will be staying in a home, not a hotel. Therefore, we ask that you treat our space with the same respect you would show your own. There can be some noise transfer between the apartments.

Seven foot ceilings. Well designed and efficiently used 706sqft.

Guest access

Keyless entry - the house has a key code locking system that is specific to you and the time you are booked for the home, so you can arrive and depart at any hour, and you can be assured that no other guests have a key.
Additionally, this works great for larger groups, so everyone can get in when they want vs. managing who has the key. The whole space is yours. And if requested, parking can be made available to you for a fee (and it is urban parking, so it's tight, so don't rent a Hummer).

Interaction with guests

You have as much privacy as you want. Since you are renting the whole place, you will have it to yourself. At your request, I'd be happy to give you suggestions for fun things to do or places to eat. And if want to know about the dance scene, I can likely help you:)

You won’t throw a dinner party at Shawn’s apartment—seating is limited—but in every other respect this place is full of details that made our stay excellent. First and foremost is the location, which is easy walking from some of the great specialty eating places in Seattle. Try the pistachio croissant at “Crumble and Flake” pastry shop. Or a cup of the rich “melted chocolate” beverage flavored with clove, cinnamon, vanilla bean husk fragments, and Earl Gray tea at the Cake Factory just down the block. The list could go on, e.g., easy bus ride down to the Pike Place Market and back. Easy walk up to the ultra hip main drag of Broadway on Seattle’s Capitol Hill. The apartment itself was fully equipped. We cooked several apple pies and other apple desserts with no effort. The extra bedroom made a convenient study—we were there for a week—and the place has excellent closet space. Supplies of basics like shampoo and conditioner, paper products, etc., were all there in plentiful supply. Full laundry next to the apartment. Shawn was a worthy and attentive host. We stayed in Seattle, as it happened, during one of its “once-a-year” heat waves, with temps up well into the 90s. Nobody in Seattle short of multimillionaires has air conditioning, and Shawn’s place does not. But it’s on the ground floor of the building and well protected from the sun. Shawn had fans ready to help, and the place was never stifling, but Shawn went above and beyond the call when he purchased, and had delivered to the side porch within 48 hours of our arrival, an additional window fan. This worked as an exhaust fan which, run over night, soon pulled cooler air into the apartment through the open bedroom windows that made sleeping a (pardon the pun) breeze. Bottom line: we were glad we found Shawn’s place and may well try to nab it again in the future.

The location is perfect - on a quiet residential street, yet only two blocks from restaurants (including the must-eat place called Glo's) and five blocks from buses and the light-rail station. We walked almost everywhere we wanted to go. The apartment is on the lower level, partway underground on one side, but it feels light and airy. It is small, as one would expect in a city, but our family did not feel cramped. It was clean and well-appointed. There is no air conditioning, but we were comfortable there during weather which reached the low 80s in the daytime. Shawn was easy to communicate with and kept in touch with us to make sure our needs were met. I highly recommend this place!

Super location. We walked to & fro everything: Seattle Center, Pike Place Market. But public transportation is also easy (Klondike & China Town). Lots of close-by restaurants.

This was a very nice 2 bedroom apartment with a kitchen if you prefer to cook (we ate out during our stay). Shawn was a great communicator prior to arrival and he was able to accommodate our very late arrival. Thanks for being a great host Shawn!

Shawn's location was perfect. Right in the heart of Capitol Hill and close to everything! The rooms were clean and Shawn provided a ton of towels and extra linens. Both beds and the futon were comfortable. He was also great about commutating all the necessary information ahead of time and being available during our stay as well.

Shawn was a gracious and attentive host. The place was terrific--walking distance to plenty of great restaurants and a couple of minutes from downtown. It could have easily fit 6 with two bedrooms and a futon.

Shawn User ProfileShawn is a superhost.

I have traveled quite a bit internationally. Sometimes traveling rough and sometimes posh-ish. A sense of humor makes most things more fun. And I sure love to dance.

When I'm traveling, I have a great point of contact to help you out.

Sometimes, I help helping companies reduce waste, drive efficiency and improve customer experience. Sometimes I help individuals shifts parts of their life, evolving and transforming...all to empower and integrate the myriad of self.

I love Seattle, and hope your stay is fabulous!
