There were bugs in the basement. There were also a TON of fruit flies in the kitchen. Jose had people come in to clean the common areas which was great, but some people just didn't clean up their messes. Someone left a can of pop in the freezer which exploded, leaving a sticky mess in the freezer, all over the floor, etc for several days. A lot of people also left huge messes after cooking. We also had an issue where someone kept leaving the freezer door open overnight. I messaged Jose who was so nice and apologetic, but all he could really do was leave a note on the fridge. The room was also damp, especially on humid days and could use a dehumidifier. Wifi would be so slow in the evening when everyone was home, but great any other time of day. I was woken up by other guests several times on weeknights. A lot of hosts send messages about the reservation, but it was assumed that everyone would read the house manual. I heard other guests asking about where their keys were and what the front door code was, so make sure you read it. The room is cute and in a great location, but your experience really depends on the other people in the house. No one threw parties, but people were definitely loud on weeknights so it may not be ideal if you're in Toronto for work.

Damp room with damp bed and odour. Bed creaked loudly when rolled over and not comfortable. Linen/ towels were not fresh. Bathroom smelt bad, toilet and shower dirty, therefore used shared one upstairs. Felt like a hostel, very disappointed

Its a room in the basement so it's dark. The flat itself- upstairs is nice. You can use the common rooms which are cleaned daily. The upkeep of that cleanliness depends on the guests- some of whom don't wash dishes. Generally, though, guests were out or stayed in their rooms. I loved the lively Portuguese neighbourhood with butchers, bakeries, grocery stores and trendy cafes. Try Loveless Cafe on Dundas. Jose brought me a duvet when I arrived on a cold summer week. Thanks for that.

It was great to stay at Jose's place. I would definately re-book. Jose was very helpful and responsive to my last minutes request to book the day of! Also, the self-check-in was really great as I arrived in Toronto, quite late! This place is recommended!

This basement room offers good value for its price. We had our own shower and toilet. The bed was large enough and the WiFi had a strong signal. It's located near plenty of hip places to dine out. The only minor flaw was the shower curtain that wasn't entirely securely attached.

Jose was a great host, very friendly and welcoming. His place is situated in a very nice neighborhood, close to public transport and in a waking distance from nice bars, restaurants and shops. I definitely recommend this house for your stay in Toronto!
