This place has amazing views of Lake Como, and breakfast and coffee on the terrace can't be beat! It has fast internet, a washing machine (no dryer), plenty of blankets, and Mirko picked us up at the train station to shuttle us up to the villa. I think the most charming places in Italy are built into the sides of mountains, so it was no surprise this place would be a hike (about 30 minutes up the path from the train station if you're bookin it - and are cool with being a sweaty mess when you arrive the villa (totally worth it after a day of pizza and gelato)). The villa is pretty basic - there is one, very noisy bed (rolling over will wake up everyone else in the house), and two fold out beds in the living room. We were there in Sept and the heat didn't work, so the nights were freezing. There is only one trash can in the house (none in the bathroom), and showers must be quick since it doesn't drain properly. I think this place is nice for what it is - a three star accommodation. I would recommend it, as long as you're expecting the above :)

It's quite a hike down to Varenna, but we knew about this from previous reviews and took taxis home most nights. The view from the apartment is stunning. There's a lovely authentic bar next door and fresh mountain spring water on tap round the corner. Mirko picked us up from Varenna station, which was much appreciated. Perledo is an authentic and peaceful escape from the hustle bustle of city life. We had a lovely time.

The view from the apartment is unforgettable! It is totally worth of the hard way by stairs from/to Varenna. The photos are the same as it looks in reality. It took us (a young couple) about 25 min to go by foot from villa to Varenna and the way back by took us about 40 min... Taxi costs 12-15 euro, bus 1.5 euro but it circulates only 3 times per day. There is a church close to the apartment and it's bell starts ringing loudly since 6 a.m. Be ready to wake up early :) by the way, the bed is also extremely loud! It is impossible to change position without waking up the whole villa... so we slept in the hall instead of the bedroom, small sofa was more comfortable there. From my perspective, the clearness is poor as per additional charge of 50 eur per apartment cleaning... the floor was not cleaned at all and we found several spots on the towel.

Lovely apartment with breathtaking views that are postcard perfect. We were aware of the distance between the Airbnb and main Varenna however it's worth highlighting this is a good 20-25 mins walk uphill / downhill. If you take the cobbled streets through the villages rather than the main road, it makes for a lovely walk! Don't be deceived by the resteraunt opposite Perledo supermarket - it does the best pizza!!! I really recommend this lovely Airbnb

Lovely place overall. It's basically in the attic of a beautiful old house with impeccably maintained grounds. The view is unparalleled. One night there were even fireworks across the lake. The only real view from indoors is from the living room/second bedroom, however. The elderly couple who lives downstairs is very sweet. They are in their 80s and speak only Italian, and they adored our baby and toddler. They even sent our toddler on his way with a juice box and cookies when we left. The house is not ideal for kids, as mentioned in the description. The Juliet balconies in almost every room drop down to concrete 3 floors below.... Aside from that fall risk and the need for constant supervision it was fine, however. Our biggest complaint was the beds. The two futons are double/full size and very firm but otherwise ok. The king size bed is made up of two very old twin/single mattresses with a large gap in the middle on top of a very bouncy spring platform. The springs below squeak with even the slightest movement, and if you're not right in the middle of the mattress you feel as though you will roll off (like on an air mattress). My husband slept in the other room after one night. Perledo is a small town with a church, a small grocery store (including fresh bread, wine, beer, and limited veggies, open Sundays), and a couple of tiny local bars/restaurants which we didn't try. For a fit individual the walk to the castle is about a half hour, as is the walk to Varenna (there are lots of shortcuts via stairs so it doesn't follow (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps). Be aware that on arrival Mirko asks for a $40 in cash for cleaning (yes, against AirBnB policy). He also takes pictures of your passports, which I understand is an EU regulation but seemed a little weird. There were no issues with communication and he's a nice host.

The appartment needs a lot of maintenance but the location and especially the view over the lake and mountains is spectacular. The issues we had were loose power outlets, the bed in the master was terrible, the shower flooded in about 3 minutes and the house wasn't clean. But despite these things we had a great time, the owners are very nice and the views just unbelievable. Walking up all the stairs to the apartment is tough, but the reward is worth it.
