Other things to note

The apartment is situated in the historic center and there is no parking under the building and weeknights as well as during the weekend the center is closed to non residential traffic. The closest public parking is at the Talete, a 15 minute walk from the apartment or I can also organise private parking 5 minutes from the apartment with pass to enter Ortigia.
Since the apartment is so central with many major monuments, restaurants and bars right outside the front door there is also a bit of noise that wafts up. As one guest wrote in their review, "it's not a big deal but worth knowing if you're sensitive to such things."

This is an amazing apartment located in a historic building steps from the famous Piazza Duomo which is the epicenter of Ortigia. You're 3min from the water and countless restaurants and shops. The apartment itself was quite large with great light and a classic (though recently refurbished) feel. To us (we're NYers and used to small apts) it was a dream. Kerry herself was waiting for us at the apt for check in and quick to respond to any questions we had. I hope to return one day and will certainly book again!

This apartment is a beautiful jewel in the most beautiful Italian bombshell of a city! Ortigia has so much going for it, and you must stay in this apartment!

We can't decide which was more amazing, Kerry or the apartment. We had our newborn with us and Kerry helped make sure we secured parking, had diapers when we arrived, a crib and so much more. She also was spot on perfect with recommendations for beaches, restaurants and even our next hotel after we left Siracusa. The apartment was large, super clean and elegant, and a chefs kitchen - which we used everyday after shopping at the fish market. Beds were comfortable, AC worked great. We'd definitely stay there again.

We just got back from a lovely week in Kerry's lovely flat in central Ortygia and can wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone traveling to this lovely city. For those considering it, a few tips on why we liked it so much (and some thoughts on the minor downsides): 1. Location, location, location. Literally steps from the central piazza, right in the heart of the action. We were debating whether we should try to find a flat with a sea view, but in the end we were glad we picked a place so central, especially since we have young kids. You can literally roll out of bed and end up in some of the best places to eat in town. Plus all the major sites are at your doorstep. 2. Historic building, but fully modernized. There's actually a small museum in the same building offering tours of a historic apartment (there was a wedding reception in the place one of the weekends we were there) so the flat is full of character. But Kerry has fully modernized the place. Kitchen with large fridge and gas stove, bathroom with modern shower, etc. Best of the historic and modern. 3. Friendly welcome and help. We've stayed in a lot of AirBnB places (or similar homesharing services) but Kerry's welcome and contact was the best we've ever experienced. Met us when we arrived, helped us with our baggage, checked in regularly, etc. Thank you Kerry! 4. Nearby parking. This was both a plus and minus, to be honest. Ortygia has very limited parking, but Kerry organized a garage spot for us at €10 per day. It was very close to the flat, which made loading and unloading a breeze. The one downside: driving through Ortygia's narrow alleys to get to and from the garage is a bit harrowing. There's a big public parking garage near the bridge into Ortygia at the same price. If you don't mind the walk (only about 10 mins away) and are not used to driving through narrow alleys, the big public lot may be for you. To keep in mind: 1. Noise. Because it's so central, there is also a bit of a noise issue. We live in a big city, so it wasn't such a big deal for us. But there's a late night bar/restaurant in a courtyard out back, so some music and boisterousness wafting up, particularly on Friday and Saturday nights. And the front of the flat opens up on a major street leading into the piazza, so a lot of school groups passing by during the day. Again, not a huge deal, but worth knowing if you're sensitive to such things. 2. Stairs. It's on the top floor of a big, historic building, so a long walk up after a long day of touristing. Again, not prohibitive if you're healthy (even our 4-year-old managed without complaint), but perhaps not the best place for someone with knee issues, for instance. There is an elevator in the...

Response from Kerry:
Thank you so much for taking time to write such a descriptive review, Very much appreciated! There are double windows in the master bedroom but yes, it's not the best for those looking for silence. The last phrase wasn't completed about the elevator - it's there but it doesn't work yet. Thanks again Peter and Laura.
