We loved our weekend at Dawn's house. Dawn was able to pick us up and drop us back to the ferry which was great as we had come up from Manhattan by the Jitney. On a sleepy Sunday morning Dawn and her sister Madeleine made us yummy Greek omelettes and endless cups of coffee. They showed us around the island and so much more to make us very welcome in their home and on the island. We'd love to visit again.

My partner and I stayed at Thornwood Estate for our second wedding anniversary and had the absolute best experience. Not only was the house absolutely beautiful, but the location was fantastic, and I cannot say enough about Dawn as a host. She was super responsive with recommendations beforehand while I was planning our stay and throughout the whole time we were there (we visited the island without a car and she picked us up from the ferry and helped us figure out the best ways to get around). The house is located in a great location- a 15ish minute walk to Crescent Beach which has a couple great restaurants and short walk to the center of town where we rented bikes and were able to get around the whole island. The house itself is beautiful with all its antique charm preserved and all the modern amenities you would want (and the heated outdoor shower is amazing). Most of all, we cannot say enough about Dawn as a hostess- she was attentive, responsive, and truly invested in our experience on the island and making it as special as she could with lots of personal touches like home-made banana nut bread in the morning and little bottles of champagne waiting for us when we got back to the house since she knew it was our anniversary. We will definitely be going back to Shelter Island and Thornwood Estate again!

Response from Dawn:
So glad you were able to make great memories, Christina. Few of our guests took as much advantage of all our lovely island has to offer as you and Aaron did. You were so wise to make dinner reservations for restaurants before you left the City. You knew about Itzak Perlman's 70th birthday concert celebration before many islanders did! (The Perlman Music Program is also along Crescent Beach.) Give us two weeks notice and your room will be waiting...

The Fotopoulos family's home on magnificent Shelter Island is well located right near the harbor and restaurants and is a large beautiful house and property. The peaceful backyard is perfect for relaxing with an outdoor shower for when you come back from one of the nearby beaches. Our host directed us to a few of the best local beaches - ones that I had never known of even though I have visited SI many times. The house is very comfortable for small or large groups and the host friendly and accommodations comfortable. We had a wonderful visit!

Dawn was an incredible host! We couldn't have had a better experience staying at her home. The room was very comfortable, extremely clean and spacious. The house is in a great location - minutes away from Sunset Beach Hotel. Dawn is so welcoming and lovely. She had home baked goods available and always was so pleasant. I highly recommend anyone staying at Dawn's. It was a fantastic experience! We want to go back asap :)
