Large home in N Druid Hills about 13 minutes to Emory (6.3 miles to Emory/ CDC Clairmont campus). SE of I85/I285. Two connecting private bedrooms with bath available. MARTA station 10 minutes away at Doraville with Uber drivers. Off street parking

The space

Owner resides in the lower level. House is a 5 bedroom, 3 bath home with front door guest entrance plus a garage entrance. Ismartalarm system controlled by iPhone. No pets or children or smoking or perfumes. Musicians may use the 1912 Steinway 7' concert grand piano in the large music studio, where there is fireplace. Guests may cook in the well equipped kitchen. The two bedrooms (one can be a sitting/office room) are connected with a Jack and Jill bathroom with sliding doors for privacy. One smaller room (with full size bed) has carpet; the other larger one (with queen size bed) has wood floor and area rugs. Entrance to rooms is from a central hall way across from another, unused, 2-room identical suite; this bathroom is available is needed. Plenty of clothes storage in rooms and hallway. Other suite across the hall is optional for additional guests for short term. Option also for longer term with special rates. Home is ideal for visiting artists--musicians, singers, dancers, actors, professionals.

Guest access

Guests may use the kitchen and laundry room and are expected to keep all the areas clean. Comcast internet service is at no charge; password provided on arrival. Owner does not watch TV, except Netflix or videos, but a room TV with local air digital channels is available if absolutely necessary. Small stereo for CDs/FM is available in room.

Interaction with guests

I might be able to pick up guests at a nearby MARTA station, Chamblee or Doraville, end of the N-S line from Atlanta airport (45 minutes). Parking available at Doraville. There is a bus stop at Henderson Mill Rd and Leslie Drive but I don't know its route. I am happy to make suggestions for eating or tourism in Atlanta.

Other things to note

Modern (1961) style house is on a high ridge with good, safe streets for walking or biking. Guest rooms are on second story and on SW side away from any street noise. Large wooded lot gives privacy and green space. Eco cleaning and no fragrancies or perfumes in laundried items. Patio is available on lower level. Next door is a Buddhist meditation center. Many traditional restaurants are around the Northlake Mall area, plus the usual retail stores. Virtually everything "Atlanta' is within a 15 minute drive, except at rush hours, such as the Emory/CDC/Decatur or midtown areas (using I-85 or Briarcliff/LaVista).

Sid was a great host, enjoying sharing his knowledge of Atlanta and was helpful giving us tips about how to get around and avoid traffic even before we arrived. His home is on a quiet road, with easy access, lovely, very clean and had all that we could have wanted for a weekend stay. He was generous with both his time and home; offering to let us make dinner in his kitchen the first evening, which was so kind because we arrived exhausted and in the rain. Later when he learned we liked to experiment at breakfast places, he provided a diverse list of restaurants that we could visit during our stay and in the future. We hope to visit Atlanta frequently, so building up a bucket list was very helpful to us. The guest rooms are very private, in a wing of their own with a roomy bath. The location is excellent, in the heart of everything, quick and easy shopping, sightseeing, antiquing; minutes away from downtown and so convenient for getting around. Sid is a retired professor; he loves music and is a great resource for all kinds of cultural events in the City. Our host told us he was new at this, but you would never know it, he was as hospitable as some of the best B & B's we've ever stayed at. Everything was top notch and inviting; we would definitely stay here again.

I'm a single older gentleman from near Atlanta, GA who travels for pleasure and business. My Atlanta home is listed on AirBnB. My interests include vintage and social partner dancing, especially old styles of Austrian waltzing, playing the piano and learning cello, good food, concerts and indie movies. I have a farm in NW GA with several horses. I enjoy horseback riding on the trails in northwest Georgia. The farm also has a log cabin and a cottage that I will make available to friends and AirBnB visitors, or exchange with other AirBnB hosts (posting pending). I work as an independent industrial food broker, mostly in the Southeast U.S. and represent several domestic and international fruit and nut suppliers.
