Fully equipped two-bedroom apartment at the heart of Athens city-center, consisting of a dining room, a living-room, a large kitchen and a bathroom. It boasts a large balcony, surrounded by a tree view on a pedestrianised street. Located in one of Athens' most interesting and creative neighbourhoods, full of cheap and tasteful choices for a real Greek culinary experience. :)

The space

A spacious flat in the city centre, in the heart of the lively neighbourhood of Exarchia, with its many bars, cafés and tavernas that cater to its youthful population. Ideal for a group of young people who want to explore the diverse centre of the city, as well as students attending seminars, but also for families who’d like to find out the beauty of the vibrant city centre. The flat can accommodate up to six people. Four in the two bedrooms plus two in a sofa bed in the living room.
Colourful, bright and airy, with its old wooden floor and mosaics, the wooden windows and doors and the renovated kitchen and bathroom, it is a unique sample of the urban housing of the early 30s in the city of Athens inspired by the European modernism.
Located on a crossroad of two pedestrian roads with a long narrow balcony with many flowers, a balcony on which you can enjoy the Greek sun, accompanied with the freshness of the trees, with a view of the three of the most beautiful neoclassical buildings of the area.
Next to it there is an open-air cinema and there are two more located within a 2min walk. Exarchia is a neighbourhood that attracts a lot of young people and students because of the alternative night life and the million different options that it provides for going out. From cafés open all day (from the morning for you to enjoy breakfast, right up to the late evening) to restaurants, tavernas and grill-houses open from noon till late at night, and bars, many al fresco and open till the early hours. It’s a neighbourhood that never sleeps.
The apartment is perfectly situated to visit all the major archaeological sites and places of interest in the city centre. Only a 5min walk away from Panepistimio or Omonoia metro (tube) stations, with easy access to other means of public transportation (buses, trolleys, tram etc.). The major archaeological sites are within walking distance too. For instance, the archaeological museum is just four blocks away, and the Acropolis with its new museum is within 30mins walking distance. Monastiraki square with its daily flee market and Plaka (the old town) are just a 20min walk away. Psyri and Keramikos square, where another two great places for nightlife are located, are either a 15min walk, or a metro station away respectively.

Enjoy your stay in Athens!

Clean, light and with beautiful rooms Romanos apartment matches up with its description and photographs perfectly. Great location in the centre of Exarchia and above a good bar. Best not to stay there if noise at night bothers you, but that is true of all of central Exarchia. Romanos was really friendly and responsive and the whole thing worked out very nicely.

We had an amazing time at this place. First of all, Jason (Romanos' brother) met us at the apartment, and even though we were a couple of hours late (windy ferry journey!), he spent a good 45 minutes explaining the area and wider Athens, things to do on and off the beaten track, and gave us a home produced map with personal notes of highlights. He was born and bred in this area, lives around the corner, and really has the inside knowledge that you want. His English is perfect, so that really helped us too. Genuinely a lovely person. The apartment is one of the best we have stayed in, it's up two floors, has tons of space, original features everywhere, a decent kitchen (quite often a weak point for me...) and the wraparound balcony is just perfect. Lots of time spent sitting out there watching the non-stop life of Exarcheia jump about below, through the leaves of the huge street trees... Its also on a pedestrianised street, so no traffic there. The area is arty, funky, gunky, 24 hours a day lively - every surface is graffitied, and every corner seems to have a bar, restaurant or graphic novel bookshop on it. Young people hanging out in doorways talking and drinking. Exarchea square is about 100 metres away. This was absolutely perfect for us, we love that sense of edgyness, really young and vibrant, but bear in mind the noise from the bars and general streetlife was pretty constant through the evening and well past midnight (late August). Not a problem for us at all, but earplugs might be wanted for some. That said, not once did we ever feel intimidated, the vibe here seems very inclusive and relaxed, despite what some guidebooks might say. You can walk to all the major sights within, say, half an hour, and the nearest underground is about ten minutes' walk. We will definitely return, hopefully to this same apartment

My friends and I stayed at Romanos' apartment for 4 nights in late August. Romanos was an exceptional host and I personally really liked the neighbourhood; however, like the other reviews state, if you'e a light sleeper this place is probably not the best fit as the streets of Exarchia are noisy until late. With that said, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Romanos' place to anyone without kids spending a couple nights in Athens. Host: As I said, Romanos is an exceptional host. He greeted me at the place with cold water, is super knowledgable about the neighbourhood and Athens and gave me lots of great restaurant and bar recommendations. He lives close by and when my friends and I locked ourselves out of the apartment, he was there within minutes to let us back in. Apartment: Really nice, simple, clean space with a beautiful balcony overlooking a pedestrian street. Neighbourhood: Exarchia has its pros and cons. The neighbourhood is really central and within walking or metro distance of everything you want to see/do in central Athens (Acropolis, Plaka, etc). There are lots of great bars and restaurants within walking distance of the apartment. As the other reviews state, the streets are noisy until really late at night. Exarchia is an interesting area and at night, lots of teens/young adults congregate in the streets to drink/smoke, etc. I'll stress that these are not threatening people and everyone we encountered was really nice, but the noise is a factor.

This apartment has its pros and cons. Pros- it's a really cool apt with beautiful features that are really cool to look at and live in: each room has a different layout of wood floors for example, and the trimmings are old school chic. The kitchen is well equipped and the balcony is cool. The neighborhood is Exarchia, which is considered the anarchist neighborhood of Athens. It was a cool experience but think how you feel about lingerers smoking pot on the street... On the other hand, it's a very good location, and Ubers around town cost around 3 euros... so the neighborhood is a pro and con. Oh, and up the street is an awesome restaurant called Ama Lachai, operating in the courtyard of what was once a school. Amazing atmosphere and food! Also, Romanos and his staff were very attentive and professional. Meeting us when we came, providing maps, explanations and recommendations and helping as much as they could. Cons- no air conditioner in august was tough, and I don't even like air conditioning. Noisy. The apartment is on a pedestrianized street which is cool, but it's loud with people talking at night. I didn't mind it for the vibe, but a little tough. Not great for kids, because of dangerous terrace. And would be nice if the washing machine worked. Would I recommend? Yes. For the cool experience and the cool apartment. Would I come back again? Probably try something new.

I stayed with my family (5 people) for 4 nights in Romanos beautiful apartment. The biggest issue we had during our stay was that it was very hot at day-38 degrees and night- 30 degrees, which is normal for Greek summer. There was just only one room with air conditioning which couldn't even cool down the room overnight. It wasn't even comfortable in that room to sleep because it was still too hot, not talking about the other two rooms. My husband and I slept in the room where there was a fan in the ceiling but that didn't help at all. When we opened the windows it was way too loud and we couldn't sleep at all. The noise from the bars underneath the house went on until 3-4am. So we had to close the windows all night and woke up all soaked in sweat. I would suggest to stay in this apartment when outside is under 30 degrees! Other then that the apartment was very clean and light. There are a lot of bars and nice restaurants right underneath the house. If you come by taxi to Romanos place it's very convenient but we took public transport and with all our luggages it was quite a long walk around 15 mins to the next metro station, especially because the pavement is not well laid out. General speaking, I would suggest to stay in this apartment in spring, autumn or winter time when it's not that hot based on the facilities that this flat offers. The area is very 'vibrant'. I wouldn't suggest it to families. The communication with Romanos and Pavlos were very good. The apartment is very clean and beautiful.

This apartment is very spacious and can easily accommodate 4 - 6 people. The furnishing is a little dated and the apartment could do with a bit of a makeover and some TLC, but it was clean and functional. It is located in a very leafy student zone of the city, within easy walking distance to all the most important sites. Some people may be disturbed by noise, the nightlife continues into the early hours of the morning, but we slept through it all. A highlight for us was Romanos recommendations, it was great for planning how to spend our time. Thanks Romanos !

Spacious and clean apartment in a cool, lively and non- touristy neighbourhood. Plenty of places to eat and drink nearby. It takes about 30 minutes to walk to the more central areas of Athens but there are plenty of shops nearby.
