We are last minute-listing our 'Cathedral Condo' for next week, July 25th-Aug. 1st. The unit sits in an old seminary prep school (1915), complete w/ stone gargoyles, spires, vaulted windows/ceilings and other gothic details. A unique building near lots of great stuff and 1-block from subway!
s555 Washington is one of the more dramatic-looking buildings in the entire neighborhood. It's a 1915 seminary prep school (Vince Lombardi is one of its alums). Our unit is comprised of both part of one of the old hallways of the school (now our living room) and one of its classrooms (now containing the rest of our rooms). There's a lot of natural light through the east and west windows (the latter rising 8' high w/ an arched top), shining in on our four main rooms:
1.) The living room---Complete w/ a love seat and couch (both of which have fold out beds); a flat screen TV w/ basic programming and access to Netflix; large oak double doors to create privacy from the rest of the house should the living room need to become a bedroom; an AC unit.
2.) Back bedroom--This is our children's bedroom. The toddler's bed can sleep anyone up to 5' 5." There's a beautiful Europa Baby wooden crib available if you're bringing a child of that age (along w/ plenty of toys and books!). There's an AC unit in this room as well.
3.) The Dining Room/Kitchen--The dining room is small but boasts the highest ceiling space (14'). The kitchen was remodeled/tiled just a few years ago, and the appliances are all in good shape. There's a buffet window-style division between kitchen and dining room.
4.) The Loft Bedroom--Ceiling space is a little tighter here (6'), but the queen-sized bed is cozy and the room include a beautiful John Widdicomb desk, some closet space and a cushioned bench.
The building contains an enclosed courtyard w/ a beautifully kept garden. The courtyard is lit at night and there are park benches placed around the periphery.
You'll have access to the entirety of the space and the laundry room (fifty or so feet away on the same floor).
The building has two front gates w/ a single dedicated key; a second key opens our apartment door. There is a doorman 1pm-8pm, M-F. Ramp access for strollers/wheelchairs/etc.
Interaction with guests
Your check-in window on July 25th is 3pm--6pm (w/ discussable flexibility). Should the listing interest you, we'll email you more details on the check-in. You'll also receive a folder full of printed info, contact numbers, check-out info, etc. to hopefully address most of your questions.
Other things to note
We are hoping to book our house for as much of the July 25th--August 1st window as possible (as opposed to shorter stays), but are fine w/ a 2-night minimum stay. Additionally--as much as we'd love to entertain all types of guests and guest needs--we gear our home to adults w/ children, or at least adults who do not intend to use the house beyond a simple and quiet home base (as opposed to making it an expandable social or celebration venue). Thanks in advance for considering this before booking!
