Our unique home is just an hour outside of Yellowknife. Edzo is a quiet neighbourhood nestled within one of four Tłı̨chǫ communities. See the view from our backyard: Aurora lights dance outside in the winter and summer has the midnight sun.
Your room has a queen-sized bed in a bright, airy, northern-style house. Our house has two bathrooms – one of which is exclusively yours. The fully-equipped kitchen has lots of counter space, large fridge, oven/stove, toaster, rice cooker and all necessary pots/pans and flatware. The long dining table is great for get-togethers and board games. A spacious living room with a couch and family-sized hammock. A washer and dryer are available for your convenience. We have WiFi to stay connected, but no television; instead we have a large bookcase (you are free to read the books!) and a radio with one channel: CBC.
If you stay here you will be renting a room in a shared house. Jessica and Robbie stay in the other room. All common areas include an open kitchen-dining area and living space with lots of sunlight. Access to our BBQ and a 4x4 square foot veggie garden (summertime) and an illuminated backyard ice rink (wintertime).
We live in a safe, working-class neighbourhood. We keep our house clean but the neighbourhood houses (including ours) are not new-looking or posh.
You will have exclusive access to your own private bedroom and bathroom. Shared spaces with your hosts include the front and backyards, kitchen, dining and living rooms.
Interaction with guests
Come and go as you please; we will endeavour to make you feel right at home. Sharing the house with a couple (electrician and lands planner). We are very well-traveled people and are happy to give information and advice on the North. Sometimes we are free to hang out but most of the time we are busy working, adventuring and doing our thing, so we prefer guests that are self-entertaining.
