The space

Location: Paris Arrondissement 12, Paris, Ile-de-France (Paris Area), France, Europe

Accommodations: Modern studio apartment to yourself, King Bed, 1 Bath. Courtyard (quiet). 2 full height french windows with Juliette balconies.

King size bed (very comfy). Shower. Kitchen (with hotplate that works better than our gas stove in Toronto!). Fridge. TV. WIFI w/ Free long distance phone.

This quiet 200 sq' / 20 sq m studio apartment in the 12th arrondissement is a fifth floor walk-up (88 steps, no elevator - we know... but eat and drink and you work it off!) at the corner of rue d’Aligre and rue de Charenton.

There's the wonderful outdoor Place d'Aligre Market for fruit+veg+flowers, a flea market, and an indoor market where you can get cheese+meat+fish.

The Promenade Plantee (like NYC's Highline) is around the corner above the Viaduc des Arts.

It's a fifteen minute walk to the Bastille and the new Opera House. The Marais is just the other side of the Bastille.

Two minute’s walk to Gare de Lyon where Metro Line 1 goes directly to the Louvre, Notre Dame, the Champs Elysees, the Grand Palais. But it's Paris, why not walk? It's a truly great location.

A lovely apartment, very clean and cozy.. if you don't want to be in the center of the city this is a place to be. It is a very short walk to train and buses.. There are a lot of nice cafes and places to eat and drink.

Thank you Rene - we will include the light switch info in the blurb. So sorry (we take it for granted that European stairs and hallways have a timed switch - will not make that mistake again). Thank you again for being such wonderful guests and for bringing that to our attention.

We had a great, six-night stay at Anna's place, and were very happy with the results. We loved the location near the market, the metro, and the Gare de Lyon, and Anna provided detailed information on finding the place, checking in, and everything. It was nice to have a large bed--something of a rarity in Paris, I suspect--and the apartment generally was well furnished and clean. Everything was as described. Recommended.

Great efficiency apartment in the 12 th. Not fancy but who needs fancy in Paris. Clean and in a great neighborhood of Paris.

We had a fantastic 6 days staying in this apartment. It was a little smaller then we had imagined but this was fine for a couple who spent the majority of the day exploring Paris. It's a brilliant location with lots of tourist spots near by whilst feeling like you can enjoy authentic Paris. Anna sent really helpful instructions as to how to get there, we did get a bit lost finding the right exit out of Gare de Lyon on arrival but this was easily resolved. The apartment was clean and well equipped for it to be home for the week. I would definitely consider this apartment again in future trips to Paris.

Excellent hosts. So helpful. The area is fantastic. We loved being able to visit the tourist areas and then head back to the flat in a more local feeling neighborhood. If you're a walker, like us, it's a nice long walk to the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomph, with many things to see along the way. If not, the Metro is a couple of minutes walk away and will take you everywhere.

Cute little apartment for an amazing price, exactly as shown in the listing. Anna and Philippe were very responsive and prepared a very detailed and helpful blurb for all the ins and outs of their flat. We had some issues with the TV system while we were there but they responded to our emails pretty much immediately. Access to transit was really great, with Gare de Lyon very close by (especially great for us as we took the train from Barcelona and arrived in Gare de Lyon). We loved that they had a little book filled in by guests with tidbits about great local restaurants and places to go, as well as several guidebooks. Lots of little shops available in the area with rotisserie chicken, cheese and bread aplenty. The free international calling and wireless was amazing! There were a couple of minor watch-outs: The shower is very, very small and the bed is actually two beds pushed together (although that wasn't really an issue for us). The area is a bit "colourful" and may not be the greatest to walk around late at night. We got swindled by an unscrupulous fruit seller at the nearby Rue d'Aligre Market who gave us mouldy peaches, so just be extra careful - the market is a nice place to wander otherwise though. Thanks Anna & Philippe for hosting us!

Philippe is from Paris, but we live in Toronto and visit whenever we can.
I'm a writer and Philippe's a camera operator. We work in tv and film in Toronto.

We love our tiny Paris apartment - it's in the best neighbourhood! And actual Parisians live here too!! One of the best markets in the city is right here, on rue d'Aligre, the Promenade Plantee's just a few steps up the street, and it's got one of the finest metro connections at Gare de Lyon (2 min walk). The 88 stairs up to the apt are only difficult when you're dragging up your luggage - it gets better after that.

We've been on another rental site for 10 yrs - time to try airbnb too!

We rented airbnb places in London and Norwich winter 2013 - Wonderful. Airbnb is the new revolution in travel. We love it!
