Hangling, Sept. 2014 "I was so touched they were waiting for us around fires in their yard when we arrived. You can see bright stars that are so close to you at night."

"We enjoyed ourselves immensely. The view is really nice. You can see the lights of the cars on top of Cadillac Mountain at night. This was our first experience using Airbnb to find a place to stay. Marion and Pat were very friendly. They spent a lot of time getting to know us as well as letting us know a little about them. They were very helpful in directing us to local points of interest as well as nearby eateries. Marion even had pamphlets containing information on some of these places such as Schoodic Point. The house was very clean, well decorated, and highly suitable for personal needs. ..."

"Marion and Pat live in one of the nicest landscape areas we have ever seen and it is only a 40 min drive to the Acadia Park. Their house is very pretty and lovely decorated inside and outside and they both put a lot of effort on the details……."

Light and airy room with white cottage furniture and vintage touches has three windows with a full on view of Bar Harbor, Frenchman's Bay, Flanders Bay and Cadillac Mountain. Watch the lights come on from your queen sized bed.

The space

Our home is steeped in the history and tradition of East Sullivan and was previously the site of the Acadia View Lodge during the earlier part of the last century. Over the past fourteen years we have completely renovated it in a way that captures the idyllic and unique ambiance of maritime Maine.

Our house features three upstairs private rooms for rent on a daily basis:

1. The Log Cabin Room- Farm and Forest View- $80

(website hidden) Harbor Lights - Mountain, Bays and Bar Harbor Views-$90

Lighthouse Room- $50 ( exceptions apply)

Each room offers a queen-sized bed with luxury bedding, towels, shared bath with shower/tub, hairdryer and sundries, internet, and access to a hospitality table. You are also welcome to rest on our beautiful front porch.

Our spread includes an apple and pear orchard, fenced kitchen garden with herbs, raspberry plants, blueberry patch and grape arbor, potatoes and corn planting in season and various wildflowers including Lupine, Daisies and Tansy.

We are happy to meet and great you and provide as much help as possible in getting around the area.

Please note that we have a dog; a cockapoo named Barkley who is non allergenic.

We are located amongst several charming fishing villages and you can walk to the lobster shack at the end of our street for a full Lobster Maine dinner, Lobster or Clam Roll, or even just an ice cream cone. There are several excellent full service restaurants in the Schoodic Area which we can happily refer you to. Kayak and bike rentals are available for touring the Acadia National Park at nearby beautiful Schoodic Point. Or take a day trip by Ferry from Winter Harbor to Bar Harbor across Flanders Bay and Frenchman's Bay beyond. Explore our many local ponds including Tunk Lake, Little Tunk Pond or Donnell Pond run by the State of Maine where you might catch site of a moose! Or Climb Schoodic Mountain for breathtaking views.

There are two large driveways one of which can accommodate a camper. But you will need a vehicle to get around in rural Maine. There is a Ferry from Winter Harbor to Bar Harbor in season.

Guest access

Guests have full access to the upstairs guest room and guest bath, which is shared if there are other guests visiting, as well as the common area that serves coffee, tea and morning treats.
Also enjoy the front porch or relax in our rustic rockers in our sitting room. You might also enjoy having a lobster meal on our picnic table facing the shore.

Interaction with guests

Our Air BnB is designed for the active traveler who is out and about, for the most part, during the morning and afternoon hours. Sometimes we have to run errands briefly during the day but we always work with our guests as to their daily plans if that involves leaving or arriving particularly late or early for whatever reason.

Our philosophy is to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. After sixteen years as residents we have the lay of the land in Downeast Maine and have sampled most of the fun outdoor activities that you will be wanting to enjoy. We love to help and to be a resource for you whether it is finding a restaurant, or helping with a recommendation on the best Kayak guides around. We also have an abundance of books and brochures on the various hikes, and of course all of the many recommendations of our guests!

Please note that we have a dog; a cockapoo named Barkley who is non allergenic.

A beautiful home on a lovely spot, with really easy access to Schoodic Penninsula, and not too far from Acadia's main park near Bar Harbor. Marion and Pat were terrific hosts, and the other gusts that we shared a bathroom with were very easy to be with.

We really enjoyed our stay at Marion and Pat's place. Each room has a theme and is beautifully decorated. The ocean view room does have an amazing view of the ocean and Acadia. At night, you can see the milkyway if the sky is clear. There is light (but fresh) breakfast everyday with coffee. One time Marion made this beautiful wild blueberry cake, so delicious! Marion also gave us tips on where to go sightseeing, so we got to explore other parts of Acadia and Maine. I would love to stay at the place if I visit Acadia again.

Amazing hosts and amazing views! This place was the perfect choice for a trip to Acadia. Removed from the crowds of Bar Harbor, relaxing and peaceful. Marion and Pat were super helpful and I couldn't have asked for better hosts. I highly recommend their place to anyone traveling to Maine!

We stayed at Marion & Pats on a last minute trip to Maine. Luckily they had a cancellation and room available. The view from our room was gorgeous- right out to a field with beautiful wild flowers and the water. The room itself was spacious and very comfortable. Marion and Pat had left some crackers on the nightstand which were welcome after a long drive. We had access to a coffee maker and coffee pods and were lucky enough to enjoy a little treat from Marion most mornings. While we spent most of our day exploring the area, the porch and picnic table area were perfect for morning coffee or evening relaxation. Marion and Pat were gracious hosts and we enjoyed chatting with them on a couple occasions. Their house is located in a great place to explore both the Schoodic area (winter harbor) as well as Mount Desert Island (Bar Harbor & Acadia). That said, it is a lace best visited if you have access to a car and don't mind driving 40 minutes to MDI. For us, being away from the crowds and having a peaceful sanctuary to return to after a day of exploration was well worth the drive! We hope to visit again!

Marion and Pat have a gorgeous home. Our room was beautifully decorated, comfortable, and spacious. We LOVED the bathroom with it's intricate tile work and amazing towels. Their property is so well taken care of and they go above and beyond to make sure you feel at home and happy while you are staying with them. They brought up breakfast each morning and had coffee and hot tea on hand for a wonderful start to the morning. We followed their advice and kept our door open whenever possible as that amazing Maine breeze filled the whole house during the day. We loved sitting in our bed at night and gazing out over the bay. The water, trees, and boats make a picturesque beginning and end to every day in Maine. They were full of great advice on the region, places to eat, and more. We had a wonderful time chatting with them about the history of the property and the areas nearby. Overall we couldn't have asked for a better introduction to Airbnb, we will definitely be booking in the future and we are already planning our next trip to Maine. We can't wait to head back to this gorgeous area! Hopefully we'll have the privilege of staying with Marion and Pat again sometime!
