Please note that we are both musicians who work in and out of the home. We thank you in advance for understanding that there may be times you'll hear us practicing. We will keep any playing to reasonable hours (10 am to 8 pm). We are also happy to recommend a variety of venues in Brooklyn and Manhattan if you are interested in listening to live music during your stay.
Other things to note
Please note that check out time is 11:00 am unless special arrangements are made.
Street parking is available on our street as well as the surrounding blocks. Please read parking signs carefully. There is also a parking lot you can pay to use just one block away.
Does your place have a curfew or quiet hours?
In one word: No. NYC never stops and you don’t have to either. Regardless of whether you plan to get up early to explore or spend your nights out late, you can come and go as you please. You will have your own key to the building and our apartment. We are heavy sleepers so don’t worry about waking us. As musicians, we hold odd hours and we truly don’t care when you choose to come and go.
Is your neighborhood safe?
Yes! This is one of our most frequently asked questions. As a woman, I feel perfectly safe walking around at all hours even by myself. Remember NYC is a busy city so it is normal to see people out 24 hours a day. There is a very active police force and you will often see police cars patrolling the neighborhood. It is a very safe neighborhood and neither our guests nor we have ever had any safety concerns.
Can I check in early/late?
If there are not guests the day before or after you we can make arrangements for early or late check ins. We are willing to hold your belongings in our living area if needed. Please make these arrangements in advanced.
What is there to do in your neighborhood?
Our neighborhood is brimming with vibrant, interesting things to do. We are very near Prospect Park, Greenwood Cemetery, even the beach! There are amazing and delicious places to eat. We are happy to give you suggestions and your room has a stack of menus from neighborhood restaurants. If you are interested in music, we are love finding out your interests and giving you suggestions on where you can go. Whether you’re interested in popular, large venues, or hole in the wall establishments, we will help you create the perfect itinerary.
What if I lose or misplace my keys?
You will need to pay $65 for the loss.
Is there any parking at your apartment?
Street parking is available on a first come first serve basis. You will find a spot, but we urge you to read the signs and triple check where you leave your car. There is also a pay-lot a block from our apartment that is available.
Can you accommodate children?
We have room for two guests. If you are coming with one child, we’d love to host you both. However, we do not have the space for more than two people total. We are both teachers and are happy to pull out some children’s books for your visit if it’s appropriate.
What about breakfast? Isn’t this an AirBNB?
Due to our busy and inconsistent schedule, we cannot make you food at home. However, our kitchen is at your disposal. We provide instant coffee and tea and have a percolator for those interested in fresh coffee in the morning. You’re welcome to use our kitchen as much as you’d like. There are also a variety of amazing breakfast places within a ten minute walk from our house that we can point you to.
Colorado native who loves to travel. After living in India for a few years, I'm excited to make NYC my new home.
I am a music teacher and work in a Waldorf school teaching general music and choir. I also teach private voice and piano.
In my free time, I love to cook, listen to podcasts, hike, hula hoop, and play board games. I sing with a few choirs in Manhattan as well. I enjoy exploring new places and experiencing various food and cultural activities.
