We live in a bungalow with an upper floor that has two bedrooms, a living area and en-suite bathroom. We stay downstairs and are offering the upstairs area to people travelling and visiting the local area. Perfect for a couple or a small family.

The space
The house is essentially a bungalow, but with an extended upper floor with two bedrooms, a living space and en-suite bathroom. We live downstairs and use the upstairs for family and guests to stay whenever they like. We think it's a really nice space to come back to and relax after a day walking in the surrounding country side or visiting one of the nearby towns an cities.

Where you’ll be

Shotley Bridge, England, United Kingdom

Shotley Bridge is in the beautiful Derwent Valley and our home is in walking distance of both Shotley and Medomsley villages - both have a local pub and restaurant. The house overlooks the Derwent Walk a 10 mile former railway which is now available to pedestrians, cycles, horses and dogs. It winds up the valley from Swalwell to Consett and also forms part of the Coast to Coast cycle route.
Nearby attractions include the Derwent Reservoir, Tanfield Railway and Beamish Museum all within a 15 min drive. Consett town centre with a range of local amenities is 10 minutes in the car and Durham and Newcastle city centres can be reached in about half an hour.

Paul and I are retired publicans. We like to enjoy our time with our family and our grandchildren and spending time out in our caravan when we want some peace and quiet. We like to think we have a bit of Irish hospitality and really enjoy hosting people who come to visit our beautiful local countryside.

During your stay

We're always keen to know how people are finding their stay and the local area and are sociable and chatty, but equally we like to give people their own space. I offer a cooked breakfast so that's always a good time to chat and catch up and answer any questions you might have.
