I understand very well that you found the end of your stay more than disagreeable. However I find your reaction very excessive, too severe, and somewhat distanced from the reality of the situation.
You rented a studio whose toilet is equipped with a "sanibroyeur", as you were informed, and you managed to find in one comment out of 40 that there might be the occasional unfortunate smell, and a few "rickety" chairs.
Sanibroyeur systems are fragile and we always remind our guests (both paying and non-paying) that it is important to only throw paper into the toilet... And it is true that it was very bad luck that the toilet actually broke on the last day of your stay !
These are unfortunately things that happen, and I am sincerely sorry (As one says in English "shit happens !", but that would imply a sense of humour !), but there was nothing I could do about it ! And I don't see what we could have done about it on a weekend evening. The toilet was working perfectly when I prepared the studio for your arrival.
I will be reimbursing you your last night (and no, you see, you didn't have to request it).
However the toilet broke the day before your departure, and I was only informed of the situation at 5:30PM by your friend Nicholas, who described the toilet as clogged and filled with water - and he did say "water".
As a solution we agreed together that you could use my bathroom and toilet (which meant that I trusted you with the key and entry into my home in my absence), and that he would close off the toilet door, and that in any case you were leaving early the following morning, and so it wasn't too much of a problem...
Therefore, I believe that at no point the toilet actually overflowed, so why do you say it flooded and you had to clean it up ? And why do you say that it "was left broken until we left", without specifying that you were leaving the following morning ? And that it was during the weekend !?
The best possible solution under the circumstances was I agree not the most comfortable. And you say that it was inconvenient to have to go out in the middle of the night, but you can't have gone out too much since I had to clean your urine, in the shower stall and off the joints. I would never have raised something like that, given the situation, but I find it simply deplorable to use such an accusatory tone and to toss off your remarks for the "benefit" of the community, without even trying to express your unhappiness to me in private beforehand !
Also, I would be grateful for perhaps a small thought for me who whad to empty your waste from the toilet, and clean your urine out of the shower... That also is bad luck and certainly not your fault - "Shit happens!" :-)
You evaluated me giving me the minimum one star in Cleanliness and Value for Money, and I find this totally unfair and also disingenuous as the studio was perfectly clean when you arrived, and at a perfectly correct price, and this incident was in no way due to my negligence !
I might also have the indelicacy to accuse you of being the owners of the Q-tip that broke the motor of the Sanibroyeur and ask you to reimburse the replacement of the toilet... In other words to stoop to your level...
Also, could you please have the kindness to tell me which is the broken chair, as I have not managed to identify it, and I would hate to see other people take the risk of "breaking their back".
Lastly, but importantly, I am not a "service industry" ! Simply a private person proposing a small apartment in the calanques !
