In the heart of the Faubourg Marigny, just steps from Frenchmen Street and the French Quarter, this comfy apartment has a private entrance and all you need to enjoy New Orleans. PLUS we are a legal B&B, licensed with the city of New Orleans.
Your private apartment is in our old Victorian double shotgun house with our attached apartment in the rear half of the house and a full-time tenant in the adjacent apartment. You have a private entrance, two large rooms, a kitchenette (small fridge, NO stove) and a private bath all to yourself. You'll be just steps from Frenchmen Street, where the music is, and the French Quarter, where everything else is. We are nestled in the Marigny, a neighborhood of homes, cafes, cool shops and artists. We are a legal B&B, licensed by the city, and in operation for over five years.
From the front porch you enter into a large parlor that leads into a gracious bedroom with a Queen-size bed (sleeps two). A futon sofa in the parlor can open up to accommodate one more person or your traveling partner.
The breakfast nook has a microwave, coffee maker and small fridge, but no stove or oven. If you were planing on cooking during your stay, you'll be disappointed. Essential utensils are provided to make your stay easy. We do not provide breakfast daily but we do provide enough to get you started in the morning: bread, jam, fruit, milk, coffee, tea, juice, etc. And with all the great food spots so close by, you won't go hungry!
The bathroom has a full bath and shower with a hair dryer and all your bath and grooming needs. Just bring your toothpaste and toothbrush!
We provide Wi-Fi internet and basic cable TV (only 60 channels). The Orange Couch Coffee Shop around the corner has excellent internet, the best coffee in town, and a lot of space to work if you feel the need to get out to a workspace.
Within walking distance are cafes, music clubs, museums and more. The New Orleans Healing Center at St. Roch and St. Claude Avenues has a food coop that is open to everyone, not just members, for groceries. Wild Lotus Yoga, one of the best yoga studios in town, is also at the Healing Center as is the restaurant Spotted Cat (operated by the same on Frenchmen Street) and a great nightclub Cafe Istanbul. Across from there is the recently renovated St. Roch Market which is a great food court. Of course, our favorite breakfast and lunch spot, Cake Cafe, is even closer. Delicious!
But those are places we tend to go. In the other direction, just four blocks away, is the beautiful French Quarter with terrific restaurants, shops, art, and architecture. First you'll have to cross Frenchmen Street where the music starts around 6pm, then really picks up around 10pm. We love the Spotted Cat on a Saturday night when Panorama Jazz Band plays and La Maison on Monday with Aurora Nealand and the Royal Roses.
We tend to walk everywhere but public transit is just a few blocks away at the Riverfront Streetcar, the St. Claude/Rampart Streetcar line, and city bus stops are nearby. You can get a 3 day Jazzy Pass at any of the Walgreens drugstores in the Quarter. Check out NORTA for public transport info.
We are a legally licensed B&B with the city of New Orleans and pay fees to be so. This is a residential neighborhood. Our neighbors are filmmakers, teachers, artists, and professionals who work business hours. Even though we're residential the sound of a brass band will lure you to mosey around the corner and the characters on bikes and on foot will make you smile. This is New Orleans at its best - easy and colorful, full of soul, and unlike anywhere else you've every been.
Big event weekends like Voodoo Fest, Super Bowl 2013, Mardi Gras, French Quarter Fest, JazzFest and Essence may be priced differently than other times. Check the calendar. Let's talk.
You won't need a car to get around but if you do have a car parking is on the street. We seldom have trouble finding a place except during big festivals, and still we manage to park only a few blocks away. And in the morning all the spaces in front of the apartment have magically reappeared..
We are a no smoking and no pet zone. No parties are allowed, no loud music after 10:30pm. Thanks for understanding.
Come stay with us! We'll make sure you pass a good time.

Our apartment is in the back of the house and our offices are around the corner. We are available if you have any questions, concerns, or just need suggestions on what to do and where to eat.

Apologies if this sounds bossy - as hosts we are still discovering the process of having guests and we are finding that the more we are clear about expectations, the happier we all are. Thanks so much. We know you're going to love New Orleans!
My husband and I are filmmakers, Cajuns (French speaking natives of Louisiana), and proud New Orleanians. This photo is from a festival we stumbled upon in Austria where young people were prepping for military service and there were lots of fresh corn vendors. It wasn't Jazzfest but it was fun. Our home is quirky, comfy and in a great neighborhood - just two blocks from Frenchmen and four blocks from the French Quarter. We walk everywhere. Sometimes we forget that we live in such a unique city but then we stroll to the Mississippi River, or walk through the Quarter on an early morning, or stumble to our favorite cafe and realize how very lucky we are. Come visit our beautiful city. ICI ON PARLE FRANCAIS. We are a legal B&B, licensed by the city of New Orleans.
