The space

You will be staying in a nice and cosy flat in the historical district Beyoğlu, aka Pera, specifically in a renovated flat at the top floor of a 100 year old Greek building located on the Tarlabaşı Avenue, which connects Taksim Square to Galata and Şişhane districts and reaches the Unkapanı Bridge crossing The Golden Horn.
This historical area of İstanbul, including İstiklal Street, Asmalımescit, Şişhane, Galata, Karaköy, Tophane, Cihangir and Çukurcuma, gathers all sorts of cultural activities, a vibrant nightlife, and shopping options .
So you’ll be in an ideal spot, where you’ll be able to enjoy a panaroma of what’s going on around Taksim when you prefer staying at home and joining it in a minute if you feel like.

It’s easy to get anywhere in the city since it’s very well connected with other neighborhoods by tram, metro and buses. Taksim Square is at a 10 min. walk away, and the nearest metro station is on the Taksim Square. There is a bus stop just in front of the building and taxis are always available in front of the building again, day and night.

Literally in 2 min., by just crossing the Tarlabaşı Avenue, you’ll reach the lively night life district Nevizade, by passing through it, you will find yourself at Galatasaray Square, in the middlle of the famous İstiklal Street with nice bars, cafés and restaurants, art galleries, bookshops, design boutiques and antique shops...

And for a nice walk around the historical peninsula (Sultanahmet), or Fener-Balat area, a 10 min. journey by public transportation will be enough.

You will be (email hidden)ly and cosmopolitan neighborhood with locals and foreign residents.
The only local food market of the Taksim area is opening every Sunday early in the morning till noon on your back street. You’ll find heaps of fresh fruits and vegetables for cheap prices and also meet a colorful traditional food market in Istanbul.
24/7 open local grocery shop is at the ground floor of the building, where you can also fill your İstanbul Card -public transportation card- that I’ll provide for free.
And your place is just a short walk of the Fish Market open till midnight.

Decorated by paying attention to preserve its original character, it’s a one bedroom and one living room flat with a separate dining area, a kitchen, a small bathroom and a nice balcony.

Since there is no elevator in the building, climbing 5 floors may seem quiet a burden, but once you reach the top you’ll have everything needed for a comfortable stay.
You can enjoy being at a top floor as you leave the lively İstanbul behind, but you always have your balcony, serving as an observatory to the bustling and vast city below, especially beautiful in the sunset. Otherwise, double glazed windows provide you with a peaceful indoor space.
And due to big windows which let the sunshine always in, the flat is always airy and bright.

A list of what you will have at your disposal during your stay:
General: *Heating system * Air conditioning * Hot water * Wireless İnternet Connection *
In the Kitchen: Fridge, dishwasher, washing machine, stove, microwave, kettle, tea maker, toaster, french press, and all the necessary kitchen utensils.
In the Living Room: Sofabed for 2 people, armchair, TV, DVD player and a nice selection of movies, tiny old desk and book shelves with books and magazines, city maps, İstanbul guides and so on.
In the Bedroom: Double bed, bed linens, middle size cabinet, iron and iron board.
In the Bathroom: Walk-in Shower, towels for each guest, hair dryer, soap, shower gel and toilet papers.

You will also find,
- city transportation cards,
- a house guide
- a simple hand made neighborhood guide.

I live in Cihangir which is only 10-15 min. walk from Tarlabaşı. I will be around for any kind of help you may need.

Hope to see you soon in İstanbul :)

We stayed at Beril's charming apartment for almost 6 weeks while doing an extended working trip to Istanbul. The location and setup were perfect -- we felt like we were in the thick of the Beyoglu neighborhood without being surrounded by tourists all the time! The apartment itself is charming and we quickly felt at home — from morning coffee on the balcony overlooking Tarlabasi to cooking dinners with market-fresh produce in the kitchen, it was a great home base for our Istanbul explorations. The apartment is on a very busy street, so bring earplugs if you're noise-sensitive, but being on the top floor definitely helps (we very quickly got used to it). The 6 flights of stairs are long, but help combat the inevitable overeating that Istanbul lends itself to :) Tons of great restaurants, cafes, and bars are right there, and it's an easy walk to Taksim, Galata, and beyond.

Had a lovely stay in Beril's apartment. It was really clean and homely, and in the perfect location for exploring the city. It is up a lot of stairs, but that just made us feel less guilty about over-indulging in delicious Turkish food! Beril gave us some great advice for our trip, provided us with travelcards and lots of guide books and maps I would highly recommend a stay in this very cute flat!

I usually do not leave public comments, but as we had such a nice experience in Istanbul, and at the flat, I make an exception: all was perfect, thank you Beril. For those who are interested in the host: she is a academic researcher, and as many other researchers, has difficulties finding scholarships, etc. That's why she has to hire her flat. So Beril is not in it for the money alone. A warm and gentle person, and your money will be well used. In return, a cosy, well furnished flat, the ideal base to visit Istanbul.

Beril is an excellent host and gave us very good advice for our visit to Istanbul. The apartment is very clean and comfortable . Any issues we had during our visit were dealt with very promptly by Beril. The long climb up the stairs is well worth it.

Very comfortable and fully equipped apartment. A bit loudly at saturday night from the street (taxi drivers get a little crazy on crossroad) and be ready to walk up at six floor (and get nice view at balcony). So, we were happy to stay this flat. Beril is very compassionate and communicative. She described our way from airport, answered all our questions, gave us advices about restaurants, transport and city areas. It was pleasant acquaintance and adventure!

We had a wonderfull stay at Beril's flat. Beril and Olgu are very nice and helpfull. The flat is very well located in Istanbul. We did almost all our visits by foot and the neighborhood is cool, with a lot of bars and restaurants. The flat is just perfect, clean, big, well equiped, with lovely decoration and a lot of informations about Istanbul. The terrace is perfect for drinks and breakfast. I really recommand this place.

We had a fantastic 6-night stay at Beril's apartment in Istanbul. Beril is a delightful host - very well prepared and full of useful information. The apartment is beautifully decorated, indeed very cute and cosy, and incredibly well equipped. We felt so relaxed and comfortable here. After staying in some spartan apartments, it was so nice to stay in a place that had so many cool little touches. After travelling around Turkey, it was great to be able to unwind, cook a meal (the kitchen is really well equipped), wash our clothes and have a nice hot shower. Despite the freezing weather outside, the apartment was always nice and warm. The locations is perfect for Istanbul. Really close to the action in Beyolgu - its a short walk to Iskitlal St, and close to buses and trams. Arriving from the airport on the Havatas bus, its easy to walk down to the apartment from Taksim square. The only drawbacks are that the street below is busy (however it's not too bad as you are 5 floors up above it all). If you are a light sleeper, just bring some earplugs and you will be fine. It is a 5th floor walkup - so be prepared to do a lot of climbing :) But you need the exercise to burn off the kebabs anyway! If we are back in Istanbul, we would not hesitate in staying here again. Thanks Beril!
