Canoe, kayak, swim or lounge on the beach while eagles soar overhead. Cook in a professional kitchen and dine/relax on the screened porch overlooking the Hudson. 15 min. from Hudson Amtrak; close to the Catskills, Hunter/Windham mtns.
This is a one-of-a-kind vacation home located on the Hudson River. The upstairs has a master bedroom (queen size bed) facing the Hudson; two guest bedrooms (each with a full size bed); and a large bathroom facing the Hudson with shower and clawfoot tub. The main floor is an open plan with a living area, dining area, and fully-equipped kitchen (with stove/microwave, toaster oven, food processor, stand mixer, and wide range of pots, pans, and utensils. a 10'x30' screened in porch has a large dining table and comfortable chairs to relax with a full river view.
You will have access to the main floors of the house plus the basement for the washer and dryer, as well as the backyard and beach. Guests may NOT use the kayak or canoe but there is a kayak rental company in Athens, NY, about 15 minutes South of Coxsackie. The beach is lovely and the Hudson is rated swimmable. The river is tidal (it flows both ways twice a day), and the tides can make swimming against them difficult. The Hudson is also an active shipping river, and you will see giant barges coming up and down the river. (They are too big to stop for swimmers and kayakers/canoers, so it is important to stay out of the center of the river.) Please exercise caution if you do swim, and remember that all activities are at the guests' own risk.

I'm a born and bred New Yorker, but I love to spend weekends at my home on the Hudson, where I enjoy swimming, relaxing on the beach, kayaking, and writing while occasionally gazing out at the river. While I'm here I bake bread, garden a bit, have friends over for dinner, and just relax. I enjoy cycling and running on the back roads of Greene County, and hiking in the Catskills. My favorite seasons up here are Fall and Spring. During the week I'm a professor, researching and teaching about urban food policy and health.
