Welcome to Casa Blue Bamboo in the gated beachfront complex of Villas del Palmar. Unit #1 is one of two 2-bedroom units in Casa Blue Bamboo, which can be rented separately, or as a 4 bedroom house. Located on the quieter north beach, but only a 5-7 minute walk to downtown.

The space

Casa Blue Bamboo is Casa 7 in Villas del Palmar, a beachfront complex of 23 homes on Sayulita's north beach. Unit #1 is the downstairs 2 bedroom apartment. There are two bedrooms, one with a queen-size bed, and one with one full-size and one twin bed. The bathroom is "Jack and Jill" style, shared between the two bedrooms. The kitchen/living/dining area is typical Mexican style outdoor living. It is about 30 seconds walking to the pool/beachfront area.

Guest access

Villas del Palmar has a beautiful common beachfront area with a large swimming pool, a shallow children's pool, a large palapa with dining table and chairs, and plenty of seats and loungers to lay around and take in the soft ocean breezes and incredible sunsets.

Other things to note

The unit has air-conditioning in one of the two bedrooms. Since the bedrooms are connected, they both stay comfortably cool.

Everything about the experience was excellent. Communication with Eric and getting set up with keys at the start was great. The place was clean and had more amenities than I would have expected, such as beach chairs and towels. I personally don't think you can have a better location in Sayulita. It's just at the edge of the nightlife, so the walk to the nightlife was easy, but there was no noise at night. I had friends that stayed further out and had to rent a golf cart and I imagine getting a place in the town center would be really noisy at night. No golf cart needed here! The pool area is amazing and the beach access is right off the pool area. There are two bedrooms, one with a bed for two and one with two twins. Perfect for a family with 2 kids or 3-4 on a friends trip. I highly recommend this place!

Great location. Loved that we were in mostly Mexican community. After 10 nights there - don't feel like it was great value for the price. Doesn't feel like the owner invests enough in maintaining the place. We had to buy our own soap. The paint on the walls was falling off.

Could not have asked more of this place! The location is perfect, right on the beach, close to town yet very peaceful. Eric is a great host and gave great recommendations and was very responsive. Perfect for a small family or a group of three friends. Wish I could of stayed longer.

Great location cute and well equipped condo unit. Quite rustic however and very little bathroom privacy. The door to washroom is flimsy and has slats..if your looking for location though place is perfect

We stayed in Sayulita during the week of Semana Santa. It turned out to be an ideal place to stay as it is somewhat secluded from the huge crowds during the holiday week. The location was great. Close to beach, restaurants, and easy to get to the town center. Kids loves the pool. Eric was a good host, easy to contact and prompt to respond. The amenities are fairly basic. Having filtered water was nice. We enjoyed the outdoor living space for the unit. Overall this was a great place for our small family. I would recommend it for families or those that are comfortable sharing their personal space.

Our stay at Villas de Palmer #7 (casa blue bamboo #1) was enjoyable. Eric was a great host stopping by to check in on us very casually. We felt welcome and enjoyed our privacy during our stay. the walk to the beach was short and convenient where we enjoyed gorgeous views and watching numerous boarders out on the water. There are a few vendors that walk the beach but they were never bothersome unlike those we have encountered in cruise ship towns and beaches. The beach was never crowded and there are plenty of places to rent chairs and umbrellas if you do not use the ones Eric has provided. The casita is cozy with an open living area to the outside. We enjoyed this and even slept outside on the daybeds a few nights. The bedrooms do have air conditioning which was nice. The beds are comfortable and clean. The bathroom is jack and jill between the two bedrooms and offers limited privacy. The shower pressure was good and we always had plenty of hot water. Eric also provides plenty of bottled water. The kitchen has a basic setup of supplies and a coffee maker, toaster oven, and juicer. We only used the coffee maker and ate all of our meals out. There are numerous shops, restaurants, and bars within a very short easy walk. We had our favorites including Blue Corn Mama's and YaYa's for breakfast, Rustic for pizza and the fabulous 5 Reyes margeritas, and The Real Fish Taco stand across from the aloha beach side bar & restaurant. We also dined at Miro Vino for our anniversary and cant say enough about the cuisine- 5 star dining in Sayulita that will go light on your wallet. We also dined at Don Pedros and were not impressed. It was the most expensive of all of our meals with the least interesting food and poorest service. We used several ATMs and had no issues. The ones located just before the Rustic seemed to work best and gave us a higher limit to withdraw. Taxis are easy to come by and prices are clearly posted. We used their service for a day trip to Neuvo Vallarta without issue. Vehicles are clean and air conditioned. Overall, we were thrilled with our stay and our visit to Sayulita. The locals are extremely tolerant of wandering tourists in the streets and driving their golf carts all around town. We would go back and we would seek out Eric as a host.

Our host, Eric, was wonderful in communicating with us before our trip and arranged pick up to and from the airport and had someone meet us at the residence upon arrival. The only thing I would advise future guests is to be sure and try to stop at the store for some of the basics: bar of soap and napkins...unless you are OK with using the soap in the dispenser in kitchen. Eric provides water (fantastic!!), dishes and utensils, dish soap, etc. Also, you need to know that Mexico doesn't have a good sewage system so a lot of places will ask that you DO NOT throw toilet paper into the toilet. It took some getting used to, but not a problem really. Thank you, Eric!

I grew up just outside of New York City, went to college in Albany, NY, and moved out to Crested Butte, Colorado to be a "ski bum" at the age of 23. After 15 years of "ski bumming" and building houses, working in construction, etc., I moved down here to Sayulita, Mexico, a magical beach pueblo. I do some property management, but mostly like to focus on surfing, yoga, and playing guitar.
