The space

Peaceful, secluded, self-contained gite with wonderful views over a valley. The gite dates from the 14th century, and used to be the garrison for the nearby castle. The gite has 1 double bedroom, and another bedroom containing 4 single beds. There is also an open-plan kitchen / living room / dining room, and a large terrace overlooking the large garden (which is ideal for both kids and dogs to run around in. Dogs are more than welcome). Finally, there is a large outdoor table and BBQ area, ideally for sunny summer evenings. The gite is on the edge of Loubés-Bernac, within easy driving distance of many Bastide towns (Duras, Eymet and St.Foy-La-Grande) , Bergerac (25 mins) and Bordeaux (1 hour). Within the village there is a convenience store, post office and restaurant (all less than 5 minutes walk away). And there are vineyards galore! Including one right next door. Finally the popular Plum Village retreat is 5 minutes drive away.

It is worth noting that a car is essential - the village is not on a bus route, nor does it have a train station.

The gite is available for bookings from April 1st to 31st October. Bookings in June, July and August must be for a minimum of 7 days.

The give is also available for long-term (1 month plus) hires over the winter.

We absolutely loved our stay at Matt's Gite. It was a truly memorable stay on our visit to France. Located in a tiny wee village out of Bergerac on a nice piece of land. It was so relaxing and we had great weather which made it perfect. It is a small walk to the local restaurant and there is a little shop which sells all the basic food and wine etc and has fresh bread and croissants in the morning. I would recommend having a car as it is a good 20 minute drive to Bergerac. We went to the markets on the Saturday in Ste Foy which were fantastic! About a 10 min drive. Really cute and quite large we wandered around and bought some great food to cook up back at the gite later that night. There are some lovely restaurants about 10minute drive away which were fantastic and very indulgent! A great trip which we will remember for a long time!

An easy find with Matt's clear directions and flexibilibity on arriving early was really appreciated. Our stay at Gite du Petit Loubes was incredibly peaceful and relaxing. Surrounded by sunflowers and vineyards, it's in a great spot. Matt was really accomodating and helpful, a great host.

We enjoyed being in a comfortable house surrounded by beautiful scenery and much good red wine. We were sad to leave.

Matt was quick to respond as soon as we booked online and provided a guide to using the gite by email. His friend Emma welcomed us at the gite and showed us all the essentials. The gite is exactly as described and a perfect place to spend a relaxing holiday. The rest of the reviews are spot on. We loved it. You won't be disappointed.

We had a great stay at Matt and Claire's for four weeks in August 2014. Matt was good with fielding questions ahead of time, and the place was exactly as described. There's a large and comfy open concept kitchen, dining and sitting area, a large main floor bedroom, and then a large room with four single beds upstairs, with a mezzanine off it. Outside is a large yard and generous decks, great for morning coffee or for having dinner in the evening. The area is extremely peaceful, and great for walking and cycling. There are vineyards everywhere.
