Glamour camping at its finest: A self contained insulated/gas-log stove heated garden Yurt (w/kitchen & bathroom) is a perfect getaway for romantic adventures. Ideally located in the village-feel of the Admiral District above Alki-10 min to Seattle core.

The space

We are happy and proud to present West Seattle's unique AirBnB: a large circle yurt stay in a cloistered, opulent garden.
Your urban garden "Glamping" experience surrounds you with artifacts from world travels that invite adventure imaginings as the circle of sunlight from the central dome skylight is replaced by starlight and the moon at night.

The plush carpeted yurt has a gas log freestanding fireplace warming the living room area. A Queen sized canopy bed surrounded by European tapestries is adjacent to a cushy twin sized day couch. Drawing the canopy drapes closes out the morning light and any outside worries.
(The yurt accommodates 3 people quite comfortably, however if 4 "close, cozy" people want to "yurt glamp" together, extra sleep space can be created by spreading out the foldable foam futon on the plush carpet at night with provided bedding)
Your solar powered circle world contains a bathroom with retro "made in USA" standalone shower and a "green" low flow toilet with built-in water saving wash sink. The kitchen features a deep stainless steel sink in a teak cabinet with porcelain countertop, dishes/glasses/silverware and a mini refrigerator/freezer, a microwave, an electric hot water kettle to fill the complementary French press for coffee or tea in the morning.

The California Cooperage Sauna with a new Finnish 4500 W heater feels like climbing into a giant redwood round with a tinted window in the door. At dusk the stars come out inside the sauna as well as outside.

The soft sided walls of the yurt offer unique sounds: the soft rain falling on the roof top can lull you to sleep, and garbage trucks backing up in the alley can wake you on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, so ear plugs are recommended if you are light sleepers! However, a soft walled structure means you can also hear the gentle hum of the honey bees in the summer on a a sunny morning as they wake up early, getting to work, while you sleep in, (the bee hives are located north of the yurt by the greenhouse.)

The AHA Yurt currently has an electric piano, books and games to offer for inside entertainment. A great space for painting too as the natural skylight lighting is lovely.
(A bit of trivia here : the hardwood Sapele "African mahogany," trim around the kitchen and bathroom was made out of wood "left over" from the famous "O" persons new Maui house and finished by the the same craftsman at Bob Johnson Woodworking (URL HIDDEN) )

Guest access

The Yurt is very turn-key and you can come in at any hour. Guests will be able to access the shared back patio paver area surrounded by garden boxes and the two-person barrel sauna. Plus: Free fast Wi-Fi @ "AHA-Guest" (Password in the yurt "guidebook to all things AHA-YURT" on the dinning table bookshelf)

Interaction with guests

We will be here (or our house sitters if we are out of town) available to help you during your stay

Other things to note

Besides resident honey bees, we have 2 cats, Septumus and Lilya who are litter mates and very friendly sometimes roving the garden. (please avoid them visiting you in the yurt as some other guests may have allergies) They come in our home at night so you may hear us calling them in come night fall. BTW: You can contact us for spa services, including massage, skincare, and hairdressing (@ The Admiral Healing Arts Garden cottage, next to the yurt: (URL HIDDEN) ) ahead of time and never leave the premises for a full vacation feel!

Be mindful of the concept of a soft walled building. Normal volume talking etc is fine but blasting out loud music etc is not the greatest choice as night falls. We too shall be respectful of sounds. Also, we share the sauna with you so there will be a sign on the door letting folk know when it is occupied.

Ted and Lisa were absolutely amazing hosts! The place was even better in person. This was our first time in a Yurt and wow!!! We can't even tell you how cool it was. If your thinking about booking this place do it! It's secluded, romantic, whimsical, and very serene. If you want total relaxation in a place like you've never been. Book this place. Hosts were helpful and my only wish is we stayed longer. The sauna is an added bonus and a MUST try while there. They had everything you could want including great shampoo. No skimping! Thank you so much for creating such a beautiful place to reconnect and relax. Tammy

What a lovely gem. The yurt was more than we could ask. It was tucked away in a quiet part of town and had all of the accommodations for a very relaxing stay. It was the best sleep of our trip – my husband kept commenting on the softness of the comforter. Our three-year-old son loved it, too. We wish we could have stayed an extra day to explore and take the water taxi to the Pike's Market, but we drove instead. Glamping at its best. Thank you to Ted and Lisa for being so accommodating during our late check-in.

Absolutely beautiful. We couldn't get over how perfectly decorated the place is. Many books to read during your stay - learn some mindfulness or learn how to read runes. The musical instruments were fun to play. So much in such a small space. It is a perfect place to get away with your special someone for some quality time together.

Ted & Lisa were as warm and inviting as their enchanting yurt. The yurt had everything we needed, and more. I hope to stay there again next time I am in Seattle!

We had such a nice stay and a note if you're thinking of booking- I was very pleasantly surprised at the awesome water pressure in the shower! I expected something a bit more "rustic" :) But the yurt had everything you needed to feel at home and comfortable. The labels left by Ted and Lisa throughout the space were also super helpful.

Ted & Lisa User ProfileTed & Lisa is a superhost.

We are "natives" and live in the Admiral District on top of the hill above Alki in West Seattle. Both of us see life as a "great art project" and appreciate artistic expression in self and other. Ted is licensed massage therapist (LMP); Lisa is a hair-designer/skin-therapist/LMP. We have a 1918 craftsman cottage next door that we work from, the "Glamping" Airbnb Yurt nestled in the back yard and a bountiful lush garden surrounding us. Also residing with us are 2 cats (Septumus and Lilya), and 2 busy bee hives! We enjoy thinking outside the box and creating spaces to wonder and contemplate in. We hope to travel the Globe now that we are "empty-nesters"....meeting new peoples, experiencing different traditions, and celebrating being Alive! (Yes, the Glamping Yurt Airbnb was born out of a desire to support Higher Education in our family has had many incarnations including our wedding ceremony, again many moons ago;-)) That's a quick bird's eye view of The Johnson's!
(PS Profile pic is from our Honeymoon in Italy, now many moons ago;-)
