Where you’ll be

Las Vegas, New Mexico, United States

We are very centrally located on 7th Street, one of the main streets in Las Vegas. Conveniently walkable to both of our downtown areas. Many shops, galleries, banks, restaurants, cafes and neighborhood bars are within a 5-10 minute walk. Las Vegas has a long, rich and fascinating history.

This is the authentic Las Vegas: a three-college town 50-minutes east of Santa Fe; the southeastern point of a spectacular loop to Taos along the east side of the Sangre de Cristo mountains; an impressive collection of architectural gems and a burgeoning arts community.

Las Vegas was incorporated in 1835, but the original settlement is just as old as Santa Fe. Las Vegas served as a key stop on the historic Santa Fe Trail; a hard-core wild west town; home to America's most notorious gun-slinging outlaws including Doc Holliday (who owned a saloon and barber shop in town), and Billy the Kid (who spent time in jail here); and a gritty backdrop for numerous films including "Easy Rider", the Academy Award-winning "No Country for Old Men", Simon Pegg's sci-fi comedy, "Paul" and television pilots for "Vegas" and "Midnight Texas".

Its beautifully renovated historic train station brings travelers via Amtrak from downtown Los Angeles to the west, and from downtown Chicago to the east. Las Vegas has long served as a gateway between east and west, a densely layered locus for generations of people in motion: Apache and Comanche nomads, French fur trappers, Spanish conquistadors, pioneers migrating westward, fevered gold miners, wild-west outlaws on the run, east coast merchants, Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders, Hollywood film crews, bikers on Harleys and Europeans in search of the authentic Wild West.

This is a three college town and it can be celebratory and noisy at certain times of the year, including: start of school, homecoming weekend, graduation; and during large event weekends, such as the Fourth of July, The Fiestas, the Rough Rider Motorcycle Rally, and New Year's Eve. However, this is a town of parades and celebrations, so these are also some of the most festive and fun times to be in town. If you are going to be in town during one of the above noisy weekends of the year, and are not in town to celebrate and/or are seeking peace and quiet, remember that Rita-T's is right in the thick of things. If you want to be a part of the action, we are very convenient to everything.
