Enjoy a comfortable room in a warm and welcoming home, run by a writer, speaker and photographic artist, and mother to two sons. We offer a relaxed and easy going stay in the heart of Victorian Windsor, with great access to the highly desirable town

The space

This is a little slice of perfect at the back of the house; it has a lovely atmosphere, tranquil and comfortable, with a pitched roof and a sky light so it is very light and airy; next to the shower room and with a view of the back garden, right in the heart of historic Windsor Town Centre.

Your room has a very comfortable single bed, a desk and chair, chest of drawers, and wardrobe; there is an international converter plug with usb hubs, a towel is provided, and a hairdryer, an emergency supply of toiletries and an iron is available!

There is all important WiFi

Guest access

You are given a key and free to come and go as you wish.

During your stay you have access to the rest of the house, guests often meet each other and socialise if they want to, some have made great connections and say that is the best part of their stay. We do cook in the kitchen and use the bathroom downstairs (to keep the upstairs shower room for guests).

We want you to feel like you are home; there are fruit, nuts, cereal and soups on the kitchen counter to help yourself to, bread in the bread bin, and several teas, coffee and hot chocolate available whenever you want, just pop the kettle on.

You have fridge space and cupboard space so you can cater for yourself, and you have full use of the fully-fitted kitchen, which is equipped with all mod cons, so you can rustle up a meal or snack for yourself. You are welcome to use the herbs, spices, oils and condiments if you cook.

You are welcome to enjoy the living room, which has a comfortable leather sofa and chairs, flat screen TV and dining room table.

There's an upstairs shower room for the use of guests, with hot water all day.

There is a strict no smoking policy or vaping in the house for the comfort of all guests.

There is an English cottage garden at the back, with a fire pit and social area to sit out in for your pleasure.

In the local area you will find everything you need for a great stay; there are cafes, restaurants, supermarkets and pubs all within walking distance. There are also good transportation links; my house is just a short walk from two stations; where there is a regular service to London Paddington and Waterloo, which can take as little as 30 minutes.

My house is perfectly located for visiting Windsor Castle. It is just a short walk to the castle which is the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world and also the official residence of the Queen. The Castle covers an area of about 13 acres, and contains the State Apartments, pieces from the Royal Collection, The Drawing Gallery, St George's Chapel, and many other treasures!

We are also close to the river and the Long Walk, and just across the bridge from Eton village; with its quirky shopping street, college and cathedral.

There is a lot to enjoy, over 2 million visitors a year to Windsor can't be wrong. Over 400 guests a year enjoy a warm and friendly

It is a relaxed and easy going house where you can feel at home. I live here with one son, and the other visits occasionally on a break from humanitarian aid work in Turkey.

I was really looking forward to meeting Melanie, but due to unforeseen circumstances she was not able to be there, but her sons did a great job of making us feel welcome. The room is a lovely serene blue, just as pictured and is a very peaceful space. The location is great and very centrally located to Windsor town centre, castle and train station. Although there is no parking, we were able to get 24hr parking in the Alma Rd Carpark (a 5min walk)for £8. Even though absent, Melanie still made every effort to make sure we were well looked after. We would happily come here again.

A simple stylish room in an interesting old house. Quiet, too, apart from the planes taking off and landing at Heathrow. Relaxed and comfortable.

I am proud to be an AirBnB Superhost, my intention is to hold a space that is whatever people need it to be.

I am easy going, and always happy to help with local knowledge; I am grateful to the Airbnb community of guests as you are an important support, and you enable me to be the parent that I am.

As a speaker, writer and photographic artist, I am currently touring with a talk about the inspirational walk I took with my sons, aged 16 and 12, for 33 days over the Pyrenees and across Spain for 800km to Santiago de Compostela.

I am a published author, with a book about making good health decisions for children, called Toasters Don't Roast Chickens. A long time ago when things were still shot on 35mm, and before children, I was the first British woman director with a film released in cinemas, I wrote and directed a feature film that was awarded Best Woman Director at The Festróia Festival Internacional de Cinema de Tróia.

My art has been exhibited across the country from Edinburgh to London, commissioned for books covers, cultural initiatives and collaborative art projects.

I have travelled with my sons in Australia and parts of Africa, north to south down India, and from LA to New York across America. Before walking with them, aged 12 and 16, across a country.

“Life is a brief shot at something incredible”

I don't exactly know how it happened, but we have a puppy in the house. Our guests are our number one priority, and we make every effort to make your stay with us what you need. I have been surprised that lots of people find a puppy a bonus. He is very cute but, I feel in the interests of full disclosure, I should mention the puppy,

I love what I do everyday and call work, otherwise the usual: Films, Dancing, Great Food - preferably in great restaurants, Travel (lots of it), teaching mindful photography, Medieval History and Art, taking photographs, inspiring people to walk the talk, and hugging my sons.
