Milton Cottage is a small, cosy timber cottage in Picton within walking distance of Cafes and the Marina. Guests have a queen sized bed, separate access and own bathroom and deck but no cooking facilities. Special rates for July-October 2015 booking.

The space

Milton Cottage is a homely, sunny, two bedroom cottage in Picton, New Zealand.

Picton is the gateway to Marlborough Sounds and the cottage is only five minutes from the ferry terminal connecting the North and South Islands of New Zealand.

The room provided has a separate entry opening onto a small breakfast deck so you can have complete privacy if desired.

Renovations have just been completed so guests now have their own bathroom and outdoor deck. The nightly rate includes a continental breakfast, cereal, fruit, yoghurt toast and tea or coffee.

As the cottage is the hosts home the kitchen and the rest of the living space are not included as part of the BNB arangement. Excellent restaurants, cafes and bars are a ten minute walk away on Picton foreshore.

Milton Cottage is a 25 minute drive from the famous Marlborough vineyards, cycleway and walkways of the Sounds.

The Cottage sits between the Picton and Waikawa marinas and so is an excellent position for boaties needing some time on dry land close to boat and marina services.

From the vantage point at the top of the Picton to Waikawa cycle/ walking track wonderful views of the Sounds can be taken in. Swimming is excellent at near- by beaches and walks are beautiful and accessible.

The host is a fledgling ceramic artist with studio on site and will happily introduce guests to artists in Marlborough.

Interaction with guests

I welcome guests and happily answer guests questions but generally leave them to have the privacy most prefer. Marnie has a lovely place just above the marina on the hill so close to everything. She made us very welcome and she has thoughtfully put everything needed in the room including a microwave, fridge, and flowers from her own garden. The bathroom is very clean and modern. There is a separate entry for guests from decking. She left us a lovely breakfast as we caught the early ferry which is less than 5 minutes away.

Marnie's cottage is close to the town centre via a lovely walk through the marina. The en-suite room was very clean well-equipped with a microwave, fridge and even a washing machine. Marnie's breakfasts were delicious! The cottage was very peaceful and the bed was very comfortable. Marnie very kindly drove my mum and I to the boat quay on the morning we left.

Marnie was a very welcoming and accommodating host to us plus our toddler. The bed was really comfy and the breakfasts were great - especially the delicious homemade preserves! We found the location perfectly close to Picton Marina, which made to-ing and fro-ing from our boat especially convenient, given the bad luck we had with weather during our stay. We'd unreservedly recommend Milton Cottage as a cosy, convenient and very comfortable place to stay :-)

Hello fellow travellers. I am happy to say that Milton Cottage is back up for Airbnb bookings this summer and I look forward to hosting again.
I am an ardent lover of life with, I think, a welcoming heart . I enjoy all that the Marlborough Sounds and this part of the world has to offer which includes cooking, walking, swimming and art work. I enjoy the company of very excellent freinds and neighbours. This is frequently shared over a glass of Marlborough's best. I've spent most of today planting my garden with summer vegtables, cant wait for that first harvest of beans and freshly dug potatoes.I have a diverse musical interest and a have very recently joined a local Eukele orchestra. When time and finances allow I am a traveler and greatly enjoy sharing experiences with people from different parts of the world. I have lived and worked in Australia and in Scotland where I was born. Currently my passion is to develop my ceramics and painting. I have an interest in large archaeic looking pots and fine figurative sculpture.
