Penny Pond Family Camp invites friends, couples or your entire family to enjoy this playful Alaskan experience, located on 15 acres and surrounded by forested state land and a small spring-fed lake we call Penny Pond.
The main cottage is a cozy lake-side retreat for 2 people or small family. With bedroom, bath, sleeper sofa, washer/dryer and fully stocked kitchen, it has all the conveniences of a home.

The space
Penny Pond is a perfect space for one or two couples or a family of up to 6 guests.

The main cottage is a cozy lake-side retreat for 2-4 people. It has all the conveniences of a home with one bedroom, bathroom with a tub/shower, comfy sleeper sofa in the living room, washer/dryer, fully stocked kitchen, living, dining, and a work desk.

If your party has more than 4 there is a newly built handcrafted cabin within 50 feet of the main cottage. It is equipped with a queen bed on the main floor and two single floor mattresses up in the loft. The cabin is the second sleeping space, referred to as 'second bedroom' in the photos.
The cabin sleeping loft is accessible by a ship's ladder with a sturdy handrail. We can also provide additional mattresses/cots for kids upon request.
There is a kitchenette in the cabin with running cold water and a small dining area. Make your morning coffee and enjoy it on the cabin deck observing the ducks on Penny Pond.
The cabin is heated by a wood stove. There is no bathroom, but there is a nearby clean outhouse up a short path.

Both the main cottage and the cabin provide charm and adventure. It’s a very peaceful and private setting that you’ll have all to yourselves.

Whether you’re swimming in the lake, floating on inner tubes, kayaking, or birdwatching, at Penny Pond your family can both play and relax after a day’s activities. Both Homer & Anchor Point are within a 15-minute drive.

It’s fun to cook your meals in the main cottage and share them picnic-style in the charming lake hut. (The hut, referred to as the ‘bug house’ is a mosquito-free zone). Situated right next to the lake, the cozy ‘bug house’ is warmed by the summer sun and on chilly evenings, a wood stove. Inside is a table and seating for the whole group- ideal for games, craft projects, or catching up on your reading.

At the end of the day, the campfire is a fun place to gather for stories, s’mores, or winding down with a bottle of wine. Here, you are completely surrounded by a tranquil lake setting. Firewood is provided.

Several other buildings occupy the property including Wally's woodshop. Carol and Wally's home is on an adjacent lot, and they are always available to help make your experience more enjoyable.

Penny Pond has several resident waterfowl each summer that return to raise their chicks. Sandhill cranes and moose are occasional visitors.

Guest access
Guests have access to both the main cottage and the new tiny house cabin, a lakefront hut/gazebo, campfire area, pond for swimming and boating, dock, kayaks, paddleboard, and a large private yard.

Other things to note
The second sleeping space is located in a separate, newly built cabin located 50 feet from the main cottage. It can sleep 3-4 people. There is a queen bed on the ground floor and two twin floor mattresses in the sleeping loft accessible by ladder.

This cabin does not have a bathroom. There is a clean outhouse up a short path from the cabin.
