Serene twin bedroom in the Spruce Hill neighborhood. Home located on a bird sanctuary where guests can relax and birdwatch!

Join us if you are visiting UPenn, Drexel or CHOP or just want to stay in an historic neighborhood in Philadelphia.

The space

My wife and I are a young couple who recently purchased our first home in University City. It is a three-story Victorian home and we are renting out two bedrooms on the third floor through AirBnB. As it is just the two of us in the house, guests will have lots of privacy on the third floor.

We have put lots of love into decorating the Twin bedroom for AirBnB guests along with our own family and friends who visit. The bedroom features antique twin beds and a dresser and a rug from Greece. The room has a lovely view of trees and the street in front of our house. The room features central air conditioning!

Just behind our home is a green space that the neighbors have turned into a bird sanctuary! Guests can head down to the sanctuary to see the birds or relax on a bench. The birds are charming and we have never noticed them to be particularly loud or annoying :)

We have a toddler. She sleeps through the night, but, like most babies, is an early riser. She gets up around 6:30 and generally we spend most of our time on the first floor after that.

Guest access

The bedroom is accessed through the main house.

Twin bedroom guests will generally have a private bath (unless our other guest room, "Queen bedroom and sunroom: University City" is rented out, in which case the bathroom will be shared). There is a mini fridge on the second floor. We are pretty easy-going people, so we can be accommodating should the guest need broader kitchen access.

Wireless high-speed internet is available throughout the house and on the patio.

Interaction with guests

My wife and I look forward to meeting guests who visit our home and are happy to provide suggestions on restaurants, transportation, etc. We both speak French and look forward to welcoming guests from outside the U.S.

Other things to note

We have a small dog (a sheltie) and she is very sweet and cute. She does not stay on the third floor, so interaction with guests should be limited.

Was in town for the weekend with a friend, and we were lucky enough to stay at Philip’s place. We were warmly greeted at the door and completely charmed by the beautiful space. It was clean and offered plenty of space for the two of us. Definitely recommend, and if we come back to Philly we would love to stay at his place again!

Wonderful location for visiting Penn - especially if it is a parent / child visit. Extremely clean, safe & comfortable & the hosts were very helpful, informative & accommodating. Would definitively stay there again on our next visit to Philadelphia.

I stayed at Philip and Elise's for two nights with my 17-year-old daughter so we could check out the nearby colleges and universities. It was exactly what we were looking for, and enabled us to get a real sense of life in Philadelphia. Philip and Elise also gave us great advice for taking a day trip into NYC. I would definitely stay here again.

Philip and Elisa were great hosts. The three-story house is lovely, with vintage decor that I particularly love. I love Fernando and the bedroom, and two twin beds are excellent for travelers duo who are not a couple. We enjoy the comfort, cleanliness, the mini-fridge at our disposal and the amenities in the bathroom. Also, it was a great success have chosen staying in this neighborhood! It is special, quiet and has a lively university local life and transportation is easy and near. I can not forget to mention the beautiful, polite and lovely dog Minka. We strongly recommend this accommodation and if we get the chance, will certainly be back.

Phillip was very quick to respond to all our inquiries and was there to greet us on arrival with great info on the area and a much welcome bottle of cold water. The house is clean and nicely decorated and the beds were very comfortable. Also access to a TV/lounge for quiet reading.Great quiet neighborhood, convenient to food, recreational opportunities, Drexel and Penn and subway lines to get to Center City, historic district, and sport complex. My brother and I were here for baseball so the twin beds worked great for us.

Staying with Philip and Elise was just great! They are both very nice and helpful hosts. The room was as described, very big and clean and the bed had a comfortable mattress. TV, coffee, bottled water and WiFi was also provided by Philip and Elise (Philip even shared a couple of beers with me :) ....). Staying on the 3rd floor of their house with an own bathroom (being shared only with an other room) allows a lot of privacy. The location is very convenient, shops and restaurants are just a short walk away and the central city is easy to reach (either by light rail, bus or by walking along beautiful U-Penn campus).

Philip and Elyse are wonderful hosts. They went out of their way to make me feel at home and comfortable. The listing description was very accurate and beyond impressive. The home is clean and in a cozy neighborhood that is close to the hospitals and great restaurants. I would highly recommend staying with Philip and Elyse!!

My wife and I live in University City, PHL. We are originally from North Carolina and California and have grown to love Philly. We love enjoying the great food the city has to offer, the amazing museums, and great outdoor spaces. I work at one of the universities in Philadelphia and my wife works in marketing for a local company.

We love traveling and have spent time traveling and working abroad. We both speak French and have lived in France and the French Guiana and spent time working in West Africa. We have also driven across the U.S. together a few times and love discovering the diversity of our country. We are excited to be AirBnB hosts because we want to meet people from different walks of life and also, help share our new city with those traveling through.
