House Rules

If you care about environment, make sure you turn off the air condition when you leave your room. If you are a smoker, make sure you smoke outside and that you get rid of your cigarette in an ashtray. Greece, and the peninsula of Kassandra especially, has been a victim of too many fires.

I'll breakdown this review in five parts, what kind of a group were we, what we were looking for, how were our expectations met, some downsides on what could be improved and a final score. What kind of a group were we? We were 9 guys of various professional backgrounds, coming fr…

Response from Dimitri:
It seems that Vitalie and his family were not very lucky: because of the sudden heat, field mouses came down from the mountain and were running around the house, which scared the children. Our house is in the countryside, on the slope of a mountain, therefore on the edge of the forest. There are good and bad sides to these characteristics. If you don’t want to encounter any kind of animals, if you are afraid to fall climbing unequal stairs, if you are looking for a more urban kind of house, less rustic, than it is better to rent another kind of house. This is an old house indeed.

The house is close to a sandy beach. It's big and nice, surrounded by trees, enough space for a group of 11 persons. The only problem is that Dimitri doesn't live there ad the lady that should clean the house is not conscientious at all. She didn't cleaned the house before our ar…

Response from Dimitri:
As the owners, we very strongly take issue with this post. Not only because we love our house and love sharing it with strangers from around the world (to partially defray the costs of its upkeep), but because the person who writes is against the very spirit of Airbnb and other such sites. She seems to think that renting a house through Airbnb is like going to a luxury hotel and allowing oneself to complain in a rude manner and a loud voice as soon something is not exactly as you expect. Unfortunately, this was the case with Denitsa and her group. Let us take her three main points: 1) Nature: Our family house is a haven of peace in front of the sea precisely because it is surrounded by nature. And of course you will see occasionaly forest mice (although very rarely as we use traps and poison). And most magically we have tiny lizards climbing up the outside walls and occasionally the inside walls. Some of us even sometimes manage to tame the lizards and find them adorable ;-) How absurd to castigate them! If you hate these creatures we beg you not to rent our house. 2) cleanliness. Everyone knows that it is not always easy to manage a house from afar. But we are now on top of it and this time around we simply know the person was lying as we left the house two days before they arrived in absolutely perfect conditions (except that the housekeeper wrongly thought it would be nice to leave food in the fridge for them); 3) doors. Balcony doors on the first floor do not lock but the shutters do, so it is safe at night and it is anyway hardly accessible. We ourselves often leave them open at night. We leave the door to the outside semi-open all summer so that everyone can easily come and go without having to look for a key. In short, we believe that these people are petit and wrong. They are not in the biodiversity spirit to “make our planet great again.” Nor do they believe in common decency. We always try to accommodate our guests the best we can and usually have pleasant exchanges. But these were different. Instead of acknowledging the fact that they did not realise they would be in nature and that this house didn’t correspond to their taste, this group started complaining about absurdly small details as soon as they arrived in a rude and agressive phone call, hanging up on us. We believe they found on the web something more to their liking and piled up insignificant complaints to try to get their money back from Airbnb. Sadly, Denitsa didn't understand the spirit of renting on Airbnb, i.e. going to the house of a family, with its specific soul, its qualities and its inevitably (small) shortcomings.

Nachts ruhige Lage. Es hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Danke Dimitri.
