This is a private bedroom in a large home, with a queen size bed and a private bath with shower and tub. There is plenty of onstreet parking, and included with the Papal weekend reservation are two SEPTA passes from the local (0.5 mi) regional rail.
Our home is a beautiful old stone home in the lovely and historic Philadelphia neighborhood of Chestnut Hill, which is an easy 25 minute train ride to Center City. Chestnut Hill itself is a walkable neighborhood, with many charming shops and restaurants within 5-10 minutes from our home. There is also plenty of free onstreet parking in front of our house, so driving and parking here are not an issue, and getting here from the airport or train station is also easy, as we live a block from a Regional Rail (Chestnut Hill West) station.
During the weekend of the pope's visit, only the Evergreen station will be picking up passengers to go downtown, and only passengers with special passes pre-purchased for that trip and time period will be able to travel. (see the Septa website for details, it's complicated!) We have two passes per day, for the 5:30-8:30 am inbound on 9/25/15, and for the 8:30-12:30 inbound on 9/26. These are included with the price of those days' stay. Evergreen is very easy to get to from our house, it's just not the one right around the corner.
Guests can access laundry if needed.
Interaction with guests
We will be home and available to help with any problems. We've lived here for more than 20 years so we know the city well!
Other things to note
We have 3 children (ages 17, 15, and 9), as well as a number of pets (2 dogs, a cat, and 2 (URL HIDDEN) worries, the snakes are well caged!)
We assume there will be no loud noise after 11 pm, the usual interactions with a family. We are both physicians and thus there is definitely no smoking anywhere, sorry!
We have not hosted before, but we have been guests a number of times with AirBnb.
I am an Infectious Disease Physician specializing in HIV in the Philadelphia area. I love to travel, often with my family, which includes my husband Ray, also a physician, my teenagers Owen and Eleanor, who are in high school, and my little guy, Julian, who is nine. Together, we love seeing new parts of the world, enjoying real neighborhoods, sampling interesting cuisines, and generally having fun. We are extremely respectful of the homes and property of others.
