This cozy room to call home during your stay is on the West Coast of Oahu. An easy walk just across the street to the ocean to snorkel in a lagoon, catch a sunset and listen to gentle wave action along the shoreline.

The space

Short or longer term rentals in my home near the ocean and bus stop, (Public Bus will take you anywhere on the island of Oahu.) I will gladly show and tell you about some unique "off the map" things to see and do while here. I have fruit bearing organic trees: Papaya, Banana, Tangerine, Mango and Star Fruit when in season. This home is located on 1 acre. Lots of sitting areas in and around the home/property. There are 2 full bathrooms and 2 fully stocked kitchens for guest use. Full reasonable use of all common areas. There is snorkeling and beach equipment available. Most days are bight and sunny here on the WEST Coast of Oahu, not much rain (We have more sunny days than the other sides of the island.) If you come in the winter months, you may just catch a whale breaching out of the sea across the street from this home. It's also possible to swim with the dolphins as this is the side of the island where they live in their natural habitat. World class Makaha surfing beach is just 2 miles down the road. A half mile down the road are tennis courts and boat harbor where Diving, Fishing and Tour boats go out daily. We would be happy to welcome you to our Ohana.....

p.s. By clicking on the "book it" button you can view the available dates on our calendar. Price includes the local taxes.

Guest access

You have access to 2 shared bathrooms and 2 fully stocked kitchens in this home, 2 lanai's,1 balcony sitting area/sun deck. There is a downstairs living room and a large covered porch. There's an outdoor shower to use after beach and before Jaccuzzi use. FREE parking and FREE use of beach equipment (just sign out what you use).

Interaction with guests

l will be available to assist you during your stay 24/7 . We are very appreciative when guests let us know if there's a problem early in their stay, so we can make you as comfortable as possible.

Other things to note

We are located on the less touristy, drier climate (less rain/more usable days) also, less populated beaches are on this West side of Oahu. We are known for our sea caves, scuba diving, snorkeling, surfing, paddling and, of course, Hiking the gorgeous mountains close by. Public lit tennis courts 1/2 mile away (we can loan rackets and golf clubs.) Golfing 1-1/2 miles away. We are happy to point you in the direction of your favorite activity. We are pleased to help you have a restful, enjoyable stay. There are restaurants within walking distance.

This is a nice place to stay that is also budget friendly and very close to the beach.

A great location to access the West side beaches. Right on Farrington Highway. Steve was very welcoming and helpful. Having the availability of all the beach gear was a real plus! Very clean and private. The fresh fruits from the trees was great. A very nice stay.

The house is delightfully clean and friendly. The two things that matter to me the most. I had all the privacy I wished for, but also have met other friendly AirBnB guests which highlighted my experience here. The space is made so that you do have privacy, but then you can come to common areas to hang out if you wish. The house is big and there is a large all around yard, too where people can chill, and as Laretta pointed help themselves with ripe fruits they may find. Laretta and Steve are friendly, good vibes people and dependable hosts. Couldn't ask for better. They were always there for questions, tips for the area, or to help me with something I needed. House is well equipped as in there is even a smoothie maker. :-) or a bundle of sunscreen lotions from previous guests and such. If you think you will need something that you don't want to bring with you, maybe just email them and ask if they might have it available already. As far as working here, this worked out great for me. My room has a large desk with smart TV (I think every room has the smart TV) which I used as a second monitor. Steve gave me a cable to connect the TV to my laptop as I didn't bring one. What a pleasant surprise! The room was very quiet during the day, great for work. The room was good temperature, and most of the days I didn't have to turn on AC at all. The ceiling fan was sufficient to cool off the space. (March, 2017) Internet was good enough for me - I worked on remote VMs and it was fine. Also I had good cell signal here (AT&T) and could turn my cell into a hot spot too, which I did a couple of times. In sum, this place is a great place to work in! As a bonus for animal lovers - If you like animals or people who like animals this is a great place, too. The kitties and the dog are the sweetest, especially the dog. She is a golden good girl! So well behaved you can't even imagine. Smart, mellow, good dog that stays out of the way and is happy to see you when you pass by. If you love animals, it will melt your heart. If you don't care about animals, you won't notice her. I took her out for a walk a couple of times, which I enjoyed probably more than she did. :) Finally, as for location and driving distances, it would take me ~1h to drive to e.g. Lanikai beach during the day, which was a scenic and pleasant drive. I thought this wasn't bad at all as it would take me about 30mins to find a free parking spot in Honolulu on a very lucky day. At this household, we had plenty of parking space right in front of the house...

The house was very clean. The bedroom was comfortable. The bathroom is a shared bathroom. The house has four bedrooms being used as AirBnb so be prepared for a full house. This location was very convenient for me to work with my client that lived on the west side of Oahu. The beaches on this side of the island are beautiful. Lots of traffic between this location and Oahu if you need to travel into Honolulu.

Response from Laretta:
Marijo, I so wish you had of written this to me thru the Airbnb website as I would have addressed this and made sure there was a hand towel in the bathroom! (It's standard for there to be one next to the sink, so sorry my assistant did not replace one there.) You said, "No wash clothes"...., we have a washer/dryer including detergent we let guests use for FREE. Other hosts,( I've been told), charge up to $20 for guests to use their personal Washer & Dryer. Lastly, every registered guest receives a bath towel upon arriving. It's up to the guest to wash it as I don't do guests' personal laundry. All you would have needed to do was simply ask for another towel if you did not want to wash your original towel. I'll take your statement of my being "an entrepreneur" as a compliment, Mahalo ! :-) ( This location is on West Coast of Oahu)

I went to the house by a rent-a-car. It takes 1hour and a half from airport. The house near a busstop.

Response from Laretta:
Just to clarify, our home is 29 mi. from the airport. If there's no traffic, one can get there in 40 minutes. However, by bus(#40 with many stops), it can take 1 1/2 to 2 hrs. or if one encounters traffic. We do recommend a rental car for at least a few days of your stay.

Hosts: The hosts are welcoming and helpful, though we mostly missed each other due to different schedules. There was some confusion about my check-out date, which was stressful, but it was resolved. Ammenities: They have a ton of stuff for you to use (and will suggest things you hadn't thought of), e.g. snorkel gear, chairs, hats, sunscreen, hot tub, etc. Cleanliness/home environment: Very very clean. Only thing I wish I would have known about was to put all my dry foods in airtight containers, cuz itty bitty bugs got in my cereal (though i recognize that bugs are endemic to Hawaii). She also has alot of scented things, so if you're sensitive to smells, this ain't the place for you. Area: It's on the west side of the island, which is the more relaxed, 'working' side. It still has countless beautiful beaches and good food, but if you want idyllic landscaping, nightlife, and general fanciness, you might want to stay on the east side. I prefered the more relaxed feel with way less crowded everything and easy parking. Noise: lots of noise from outsde (highway, birds chirping, people partying next dopr), which made it feel like home to me Shower/bathroom: good water pressure, extremely neat and clean, handy dispensers of soap etc. Bed: This was the only big issue for me. The bed was thin and soft and on a hard base, which did a number on my body and my health issues. When i mentioned that the bedrrom was tight (a seperate issue), the host graciously offered to let me switch rooms, but all the other rooms are upstairs, so that wasn't really any better for me (again, chronic health stuff). The bed is the only reason i wouldn't book here again.

Response from Laretta:
So sorry about the bed issue. Honestly, that is the first time I've heard that observation/complaint about the bed in that particular room. We will certainly address it for the future. Did you keep your cereal in your room ? We actually need our guests to keep all cereals, breads, sweets, etc. in the fridge as this is the Tropics and bugs will come. So sorry if I did not mention that to you ay beginning of your stay. I would have loved to have known about these issues so we could address them during your stay :-)

Local nurse into health and wellness; there's a garden in the back most of the year. I like a serene, calm environment that promotes good healthy fun! Enjoy ocean activities, and I know little secret places that I'll share with you when you come. The five things I just can't live without would be connecting with my grown kids and my one grand child; Knowing Stephen is here, and the 5 beautiful, loving cats and 1 sweet, soulful dog that lives on this acre with us; Gardening and creating meditative spaces to go to and relax.Last, but certainly not least, would be creating a restful, clean place where guests from all over the world could come and feel "at home and accepted" during their travels. My favorite travel destination is Hawaii ! Favorite motto: "If you think education is expensive, try ignorance"." I would rather wear out, than rust out", "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure".....
