This is our dream home in a city that we love. Half an hour walk through Central Park to the city or a 5 min drive. Direct bus to the city from the driveway. Awesome views over the mountains and down to the harbour. Off road parking. Sunny. Good heating. Wraparound deck garden safe for kids as well as a large (and steep) bush section to explore. It is available from 26 Dec to 8 Jan.

The space

Our lovely house is available while we are away for a couple of weeks. This is a family home rather than a 5 star hotel. But unlike a hotel, it has everything that you could need for a longer stay from DVDs and playstation games to a slow cooker and fancy juicer. From 500 books to board games and kids toys.

Our house is in a sunny spot tucked away from the road and sheltered from the famous Wellington wind. It is down a driveway with parking by the house and unlike most houses with a view in Wellington, has no steps to contend with :-) The house is completely private behind a large gate and you would never guess that you are a 5 minute drive from the middle of New Zealand's capital city. There is a fenced garden surrounding the house that is safe for children and a large (steep) garden of bush and trees to explore.

Our one-level home has two double bedrooms (one king bed and one double) with fitted wardrobes and a spare single mattress that can also be used. There are two modern bathrooms with a shower in one and a bath and washing machine and tumble-drier in the other. The new and very modern kitchen has a large fridge-freezer, oven, gas hob, microwave, dishwasher and all the pots, pans, crockery, cutlery etc you could ever need. There is also a juicer, slow cooker, fancy cake mixer, sandwich toaster etc.

The kitchen is part of a large open-plan kitchen-diner-playroom-lounge that looks out over the mountains and down to Wellington harbour. It's got a super comfy large leather sofa and a ton of books, DVDs and toys. The lounge has a wall of floor to ceiling windows as well as a large skylight so is very light and airy.

Heating is really important to us Brits who are used to central heating :-) Our lounge has a gas heater and a heat pump and each bedroom has an oil heater.

If you want a nice relaxing time away in Wellington with a view and love watching planes and the bluebridge and interislander at a distance then this is the house for you. Up in the hills amoung the birds. Take your binoculars ... The house has everything that you would want or need, Very warm house all day sun, comfy beds and child friendly. Lovely helpful neighbour Kelly if you needed.

Katie sent through really helpful info pertaining to the house and the location before we arrived. The house was just as the photos showed, and felt even more spacious than we expected. We loved staying here! It really was a home-away-from-home for us for the 11 nights. Fantastic views and everything we needed plus the extras that made it feel so welcoming and homely. Loved the artwork and colours in the house. We would certainly recommend this place should it come available again. Half the time we were there we had amazing spring weather; the other half of the time was stormy - the house felt safe and warm throughout it all. Plus great neighbours!

We never met Katie and her family, but they had arranged everything so that we'd have a great time in Wellington. We got sent a detailed description of the house and the area a few days before we got there which even included tips on what to do while in Wellington. The house was great, so much space and we felt right at home. We got greeted by their neighbour who also came over on our last day to pick up the key. The dryer hadn't finished drying all the sheets but Nic was really nice about it and straight away offered to do the beds for us once the dryer finished. Really friendly and accommodating. When we had questions regarding the house Katie replied to our Emails quickly. The neighbourhood felt safe and it was really quiet. Amazing views from the deck and the beds were so comfortable! Would definitely recommend their house!

Katie and Marks home was a wonderful treat for the end of our NZ adventure. The views are remarkable and the wind turbine is very close. The home is located very close to downtown in a very nice and quiet residential area. Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate but thankfully this home has a very efficient heating system and we were never cold. This was an excellent home for my family with small children. No stairs to contend with and a trampoline for our son! We would happily stay here again.

We are a family of three from the UK loving life in the coolest capital city in the world. We've moved a lot in the last few years and have finally found our dream home. We hope that someone else can enjoy our beautiful home while we are away.
