The space

We offer rental of our complete home and the pricing reflects that policy. I would consider rental of the second bedroom (King-sized bed) and private bath with access to the remainder of the home, kitchen, living room, BarBQ and gardens on a shared basis. I am a retired and recently widowed man who is active in the community, easy to get along with and enjoy people. I travel frequently. Parties with an interest in such an arrangement should contact me for availability and pricing.
We are centrally located in the Barrio Cordova community that is one block from the popular Murcielago Beach, hotels and all amenities. Convenient access to restaurants, shopping centers. local markets and business center. Our 2300 square foot (208 m²) apartment has 3 bedroom; one with Queen bed & ensuite bath & the 2nd w/ King Bed and adjacent bath, and 3rd is decorated and furnished as a home office. The kitchen has a passthrough to fresh-air BBQ area & casual seating for 3-4 persons. The dining room & spacious living room share the ambiance of garden with north and west exposure. The large garden terrace is a perfect place to enjoy an AM coffee, afternoon sun or evening dinner and is equipped with BarBQ and seating for up 8 people for evening dining. Live and enjoy!

Booked Guests will be met by a Manager who speaks English and some Spanish. An introductory walk-through will familiarize the guest with the property. Keys and contact information will be provided along with a detailed Welcome Package to help make your visit most enjoyable.

Interaction with guests

Our Home interior. Maria is our Maid. She comes in from 9:00 to 1:00 Monday. Wednesday and Friday. She has her own keys for access and lockup. She does not speak English but, knows what to do and generally requires very little instruction. There is a schedule for her to follow on the side of the fridge. She does not do any cooking but concentrates on laundry, and cleaning.

Other things to note

GARDEN AND COMMON AREA: The gardens and walkways are common property and can be used by all owners. Nevertheless, the general area adjacent our suite on the ground floor is seldom used by the other owners as they have ample balconies for their own use. The gardens adjacent our suite should be treated as private property for your personal use, although we have not denied others from using the table and occasionally, another owner will sit out at the garden table at night with a girl or boy friend. We simply ask them to leave the area in the condition they found it and they are very respectful. The table/bench cushions are keep under the table for your use as necessary. The parasol and “chaise lounges”, cushion, etc., are general covered but, their access and use is very convenient and you are encouraged to use and enjoy them. The key for the lock on the lounges is adjacent the BarBQ garden door.

PARKING: Our parking stall is the one in the middle. Access is via the automated gate (it opens outward from the center, so allow clearance. We will provide a controller for your use. Please ensure that it is secure. Do not leave it in your car at night and leave it in the house on your departure. Thanks.

I stayed seven weeks in Manta at Gary's house. We totally enjoyed it. The house is well maintained and clean, nicely decorated. The house is within walking distance to the Market, restaurants, bars and the beach. We did not need to rent the car. Gary was a great host, provided transportation from airport, some food in refrigerator and water. He was available to answer any questions we might have. We hope to stay thee again.

Gary's house is the full first floor apartment with loads of space, a full wrap around patio garden with high quality outdoor seating, and great integration of the indoors and outdoors with a semi-external grill that is still attached to the indoor kitchen. I can't say enough good things about the beautifully designed and furnished flat. It is really amazing; wish I lived there! Gary himself was a very helpful owner who ensured that everything went as well as possible, even going so far as stocking the fridge for us, and trying to arrange a ride for us from the airport. This has been my best Airbnb experience and if you are coming to Manta there is no doubt that I would very strongly recommend Gary's place. As for Manta itself, we came here to compete in the Ironman, and the starting point for the ironman was at the main parking for the central beach of manta, about a 1 minute walk from Gary's. So for us the location was perfect. I don't think anyone can go wrong with this place. Thanks so much Gary!

With my Lover and Partner Mary, we enjoyed a successful business career for 47 years in Vancouver, British Columbia. We retired to the Tropics in 2011 and have been living the good life for part of each year in Manta, Ecuador.
Mary and I shared a multitude of interests including boating, hiking, travel, theater, art and fine dining and our individual exercise programs. Mary passed away last year after a courageous battle with cancer. Although being a single man after 47 years does present new challenges, I look forward to life with enthusiasm.
The transition to retirement, a new country, life-style and culture has been easy and a truly delightful experience. The Ecuadorian people are friendly, welcoming and Manta has a good representation of expats from Canada, the United States and Europe. If you plan to visit Ecuador, Manta on the coast, is a great choice. The weather is perfect all year-around.
We are blessed to have traveled extensively - sometimes on business but, mostly for pleasure. Over the past five years our travel focus has been Spain, Mexico, Nicaragua and Ecuador. With a base now in Manta I now plan to further explore Ecuador and the countries of South America. I also look forward to the opportunity to renew fond memories of Spain, Italy and France. So I would welcome inquiries for home exchange or rental from people anywhere in the World.
