The space

Nestled in the New England forest, come and enjoy your own private suite in the log cabin home of a local artist. Savor the quiet. Create, invent, work and play. Rejuvenate.

Your suite has its own egress. There are two bedrooms, a full bathroom, a living room with dining area, and a small fridge, microwave, and pantry. The deck out back is the perfect place to greet the morning.

To enrich your stay: a piano, ethernet, WiFi, Bose Wave Radio, yoga mat, and "The Starlight Inn" —small screen tent to lie down in for gazing at the sky.

A fully equipped kitchen and dining area upstairs can be made available upon request. Washer and dryer, too.

Out the back door—hiking, biking, birding, wildlife, fishing; paddling outfitter and sky diving near by.

Host may be available to offer recommendations for restaurants and nearby activities. There is a Guidebook in your bedroom.

Local Attractions: Bring your road bike or mountain bike, there are lightly trafficked country roads, and many mountain bike trails a short ride or drive away, including the nearby Nashua River Rail Trail.

A marked path behind the cabin leads to the Jeff Smith Trail, a 7-mile trail going up into New Hampshire.

Nearby is Heald Pond, good for swimming, fishing, and kayaking.

There is so much to enjoy around here!

Guest access

The door around back—on the forest level, provides access to your space and to your deck overlooking the forest. Feel free to use the front porch or any of the other outdoor areas.

The rest of the house is private.

Interaction with guests

Guests have minimal interaction with host. If you have questions or would like to use the washer/dryer, or the kitchen, text is best :-)

Other things to note

No smoking inside. Pick up fully extinguished butts if you smoke outside and dispose of them in a closed container.

No firearms.

No candles.

Inquire about bringing your pet. Rules and fees applied.

During Summer and Fall, there are mosquitoes at dusk and in the morning. You'll find STRONG bug repellent on the benches outside to use cautiously, or bring your own.

During the Winter, we often get a lot of snow. You will need 4-wheel or front wheel to get up the hill to the house and to get in and out of the driveway. Though we get plowed, plowing doesn't happen until after the snow has stopped. You'll want to bring boots and cold weather clothing that are good in ice and snow.

We are in the woods, and it is dark. The stars really pop. There is very little light pollution. Because it is so dark, be prepared with a flashlight or cellphone light to get from the driveway to the entry door.

This place was so incredibly peaceful and provided the perfect environment I needed for a little solo retreat. The outdoor space just steps outside the front door is surrounded by the forest. I unrolled my yoga mat on the deck and stretched, drank coffee, read books and journaled. On a whim I went to the Groton Wellness center for a clay bath treatment and had a really nice vegetarian meal to-go. She was very communicative, friendly and available!

We loved our stay at Susan's cabin, which is beautiful! The lower level of her home, which we rented, was clean and spacious--and because it had a separate entrance it felt very private.

Susan's place was in a beautiful, quiet, serene setting. We enjoyed the fun activities in the area, including the local fly fishing scene. If interested, check in with Charles at the Evening Sun Fly shop in downtown Pepperell for gear or guide services. There are many areas to fish in the vicinity. We enjoyed the clean and charming space that Susan's property provided as we visited with family and enjoyed the area.

We were blown away at the sheer beauty of Susan's home. Quiet nights, gorgeous view, wonderful trails— this was the exact recharge that we needed away from the hustle and bustle from the big city. Would highly recommend, and hope to come back soon.

Staying at Susan’s was an unexpected gift. We needed to find a place at the last minute, and she responded quickly and warmly that we could stay at her place. When we arrived, we were delighted. Big open windows looked out on a forest, where we went for a late afternoon walk. Inside the cabin, we felt at home and surrounded by beauty. Thank you, Susan!

It felt so good to be at Susan's peaceful house in the woods. She was warm and welcoming and our space was quiet and private. We loved exploring the hiking trails and swimming in the beautiful lake nearby. We enjoyed several restaurants that Susan recommended and also savored eating our morning cereal with fresh local berries on our little deck surrounded by herb and flower gardens and overlooking the woods. Everything was clean and comfortable and very much as pictured. I highly recommend the experience.

Thank you so much for choosing to stay here. I LOVE that you enjoyed the pond. I deeply feel that the pond finds joy in being a place for all beings. I think that Robert Frost and Jung would both have enjoyed the pond too :-).

My life motto is: "Live happily, you're worth it." I've happily hiked, biked, and zipped by train around our astounding planet. My own back yard brings me a lot of pleasure too. Dancing, drawing, writing, and cultivating contentment are things I like to do.
