To say that Mercedes and Lorenzo went above and beyond for us is an understatement. This is EXACTLY why we use Airbnb for our travel. When you are traveling to a foreign country, you don't know what to expect. It can be very intimidating. But our hosts we're amazing. And here are the many reasons why! Mercedes, from the moment I contacted her, was easy to communicate with, answered all of my questions and concerns. Within minutes I always had a reply from her! They provided taxi pick up and drop off from the airport for free which was amazing and worth its weight in gold! They even made us a special sign which was super sweet. We were traveling for my girlfriend's 30th birthday and I asked Mercedes if they could help me find some decorations to surprise her with. Without hesitation, her and Lorenzo went out and bought me decorations (which is hard to find in Cuba mind you) and had it waiting for me secretly when we arrived. Plus our friend decided to meet us last minute on our trip and surprise my girlfriend. So they helped me arrange everything by getting him a taxi from the airport and settled in with no issue. They also exchanged money for us which was way easier and cheaper than doing it at a bank or the airport. Mercedes and Lorenzo coordinated breakfast for us for only 5 CUCs across the street from the apartment which was incredibly convenient and delicious. When it was time to leave, we were hungry and Lorenzo and Mercedes quickly took us to a local food stand to get some food before our trip. Again, just doing everything they could to make our stay that much more enjoyable. As far as the apartment goes: The neighborhood is incredibly safe however it is in one of the more rundown areas of the city. So its appearance, though full of texture and authenticity, isn't as refined as other touristy parts of Havana. But that's what we loved about it. We were dead smack in the middle of a true authentic old Havana neighborhood which was fun! The neighborhood is loud, even at night sometimes. People, in general, stay up late in Havana. So we would hear people outside sometimes yelling or talking. Wasn't really that bad but something to keep in mind as the two bedrooms face the street. That being said, we loved waking up to the guy selling bread in the morning as he shouted while walking down the street! Keep in mind, this apartment is off the beaten path. So to get to Old Havana, its a good 10-15 min walk. But walking in Havana is half the fun. The apartment itself was great. Super clean, AMAZING AC, and nice bathroom with a great shower. We loved the added security of the digital locks with our own special code to get in and out of the building and apartment. However, we never felt the...

We had a different person help us during our stay since Mercedes and her husband Fabian were on vacation but still had an amazing time! They helped us coordinate visits to Vinales and anywhere else we wanted. The fridge is stocked with various beers and water for us to purchase as well as souvenirs in a cabinet. There are extra towels, blankets, sheets, and toilet paper in the apartment. The AC was on the whole time and was so refreshing after sweating all day long in the Cuban heat. The neighborhood is cute and you can walk to El Malecon and El Prado. Everything else is a short drive away or long walk if youre down for a nice walk. Loved our hosts, the place, and Cuba!!!

Mercedes lived up to being a super host. The location of her apartment was perfect for exploring all of Havana. We were able to walk almost all of the city and feel perfectly safe. Pros: pick up and drop off from the airport is included in the price of the booking, host helps with currency exchange (make sure to bring cash in large bills!), humidor stocked with legit (well-priced) cigars, apartment stocked with (well-priced) drinks, host can arrange any kind of authentic Cuban experience that you desire, English speaking, clean and efficient furnishings, awesome outdoor spaces (covered balcony and private rooftop), Cuban cell phone to communicate with host. The only con would be the wifi situation which the host actively tried to fix multiple times during the trip. From what we gathered, all wifi in Cuba is intermittent and is basically pay-per-hour ($3/hr). Worst case scenario is you walk two blocks to a wifi hotspot and sip $2-$3 mojitos at a bar overlooking the ocean while checking your email. I wouldn't hesitate to book this listing again when we travel to Cuba on our next vacation. Our amazing experience in Cuba was largely due to the insider knowledge of our hosts and their gregarious and warm personas.

Our stay here was amazing. Everything was modern and the air conditioning worked very well (important in hot Havana). The wifi was difficult to figure out and didn't work well, but that didn't matter. Lorenzo and Mercedes stocked the fridge with everything we needed and even refilled it when our party of 5 drank all the cervezas. They are on call 24/7 to answer your questions and help arrange transfers to other locations. I can't recommend this place highly enough. You should stay here!

Where do I even begin? Our vacation to Cuba was nothing short of spectacular and our great experience had a lot to do with the hospitality we received by our AirBnB hosts Mercedes and her friendly husband Lorenzo who nicknamed tío Lorenzo for being very attentive and amazing host. The location was in the heart of Havana and was only a short walking distance away from El Malecon, Paseo del Prado, Museo de La Revolucion among countless restaurants and shops. Upon our arrival, we were greeted with a warm welcome sign at the airport and taken to our “home” in Havana. The apartment was spotless, air conditioned, and to our surprise, with a fridge fully loaded with waters, sodas, and beer (we paid for what was consumed, but nothing beats the convenience of it being there). We did consume most of the water by the 3rd day and Lorenzo was more than happy to replenish it as soon as we asked. How were we able to get ahold of our Cuban host when we only had American phones you might ask? Much to our surprise, our hosts left a Cuban phone in our apartment so that we carried it with us at all times in case of an emergency or in case we needed ANYTHING, weather it be toilet paper or housekeeping or simply a restaurant recommendation. We did have a house keeper come wash our sheets and towels mid week who left our “home” once again spotless. Other great qualities of this location include: rooftop access with a great view of the streets, wi-fi, extra inflatable mattress, and a great neighbor who would prepare you an amazing continental breakfast at your request for only 5 CUC per person. Overall excellent location, phenomenal apartment & the most graceful Hosts. Totally recommend it to all my family and friends. Thank once again Tío Lorenzo and Mercedes sincerely Benya and friends:)
