Waterfront contemporary overlooking two coves on a saltwater tidal river, with nearly 360-degree water views. Shoreline access for kayaking, canoeing, swimming, lounging, etc. Light and airy spaces, floor-to-ceiling windows, skylights. Serene, and beautiful surroundings, yet within easy reach of the rich cultural life of the mid-coast towns of Camden, Rockport, and Rockland,
River Watch includes a 2-bedroom main house with full bath, well-equipped kitchen, dining and two sitting areas (living rooms), with laundry room, and large deck, alongside (and always rented together) a guest house (the Refuge) with bedroom, private tiled bath, and deck, just a few feet away. Both have sliding glass doors, huge windows, and incredible water views. Large open lawn, mature plantings, gardens, quiet, pristine surroundings. Enjoy morning coffee overlooking the water, and a glass of wine at dusk as the sunset deepens
Guests have the entire house and guest cottage (the Refuge) on this 1.5-acre coastal property to themselves, including access to our (3) kayaks and (1) canoe, which you can put in right off the shore at River Watch. Enjoy the beautiful shoreline with large sitting and diving rocks, tide pools, and swimming. Exploring this quintessential slice (rugged yet inviting) of the Maine coast. Relax with coffee or glass of wine in our Adirondack chairs, lie in the hammock gazing into the trees, grill lobster for supper, and eat outdoors as the sun sets over the water. At night, look up at a sky full of more stars than you've seen in a long time.

We're a photographer/writer team, lovers of Maine, and frequent travelers to Italia. We enjoy visiting art galleries and museums, as well as hiking the Maine coast, especially the Camden Hills and Monhegan Island, kayaking off the coast of River Watch, and sharing our vacation home with friends and guests from near and far who bring an added dimension to the place. Longtime frequenters of the mid-coast, we bought River Watchi n 2006, when it was little more than a rustic shack with windows in all the wrong places. With the help of an architect and builder, we redesigned the house to take advantage of its amazing position on the water. Our vacation home has proved a great place to gather with family and friends, and a wonderful retreat for a serene interlude by ourselves. We continue to draw inspiration from the beauty of the coastline, and the lively arts community in the surrounding towns of Rockland, Rockport, and Camden. Adjusting our lives to the rhythm of the tides, rather than the ticking of the clock, is part of the charm of spending time at River Watch.
