Our family moved to Canton NY 19 years ago when I began as the pastor of the First Presbyterian Church on the Park ( website). My wife, Linda Potter, is a Retreat Coach offering retreats and workshops for women, businesses and non-profits through her business Nautilus Retreats ( website). Our daughter recently graduated from St. Lawrence University, and we have two teenaged sons in high school.
In 2005 we were fortunate enough to purchase a house on nearby Trout Lake (19 miles away in Hermon, NY). Soon after, my mother purchased a house right next store featured in this Airbnb listing. Though we are new to Airbnb, both of these houses have been rented for a number of years, and are listed at & ( websites; #180968 and #394813) where guest reviews and additional information can be found.
Due to my mother's health, we have assumed the management of her lake house. Linda and I are well-practiced and gracious hosts, and will endeavor to make your stay with us enjoyable, restorative and hassle free.
When I'm not being "Rev. Mike" I am a solo musician (singing and playing acoustic guitar; Neil Young, Grateful Dead, Marvin Gaye, Allman Brothers, Dylan, John Prine, etc.), a fishing guide (for kids and their parents), a woodworker, a tinker-in-the-shop person and a pretty regular guy. I attended Bucknell University (played football) and Princeton Theological Seminary (ordained in 1992), trained sled dogs in Northern Minnesota, and lived in a red 1970 VW bus for a more years than I probably should have.
