Our stay was just what we were hoping for. The weather was cooler than we anticipated but we were able to have the coziest fire. We went along with Nick in the morning to watch the animals get fed, this was eye opening to how much love and attention Nick and Kate provide their animals. Ethel the house pig kept us entertained and Radar the guard dog was so sweet with her squinty eyes and wiggly butt. We highly recommend visiting!

After being a follower of Longest Acres Farm on Instagram I coveted the day when we would get to stay there so when the opportunity finally arose we packed up our car in Brooklyn and headed north. My husband and I had never been to Vermont and I think we both agree its one of the most beautiful states. Rolling, lush green hills peppered with sheep, vibrant trees as far as the eye can see, (no billboards!! it's the law!), and an overall sense that to Vermonters the clean environment and the sustainable food it produces is its heartbeat. Being aspiring farmers ourselves we were giddy to visit with Kate and Nick and learn about their story and farm life in general. They could not have been more welcoming and accommodating to our myriad of questions. They let us come with them every morning for farm chores, we helped with some farm projects and had the amazing opportunity to see new life enter the world....baby guinea hens, baby chicks and a new baby calf! Our first night they invited us to join them and some friends around the fire pit which was so thoughtful! The property itself is breathtaking and their are several ways to wonder off to soak up the beautiful surroundings. It is a very rural location so we spent most of our time on the property though we did take a few drives to some nearby towns (I recommend going to the Woodstock Farmer's Market). All the drives were stunning! The house itself had everything we needed included a very comfortable bed! We brought our own groceries so we enjoying BBQing and having breakfast and lunch out on the porch. Kate was kind to recommend some local restaurants to us so one night we had a fabulous meal at Wild Roots (who use Longest Acre meat). Things I would recommend to future guests: do the morning chores with the farmers each morning, it was our favorite part (make sure to bring farm/work boots!). There is a path in the back of the house that winds up the hill and veers to the left that will eventually take you to a gorgeous open field full of fragrant Queen Anne's Lace, such a lovely hike. If you need groceries/toiletries, go to the South Royalton Market, a small little co-op style grocery that sells lots of local produce and meat or the Woodstock Indoor Farmers Market if you are up for a short drive. Overall, our experience exceeded our expectations and we hope to return again in the future. Kate and Nick have a beautiful homestead and we are grateful they shared it with us!

I really loved my stay on Kate and her husbands beautiful farm. It was really peaceful waking up to the sound of the animals. I felt really lucky getting to help Charlotte, their intern, with her morning chores. It was definitely an experience I'll never forget. Longest Acres Farm is like a dream and I really hope to make it back someday.

Kate User ProfileKate is a superhost.

My husband, Nick, and I (Kate) run a small, diversified livestock farm here on Longest Acres. We have one young son who is 2 and accompanies us on most farm work. We raise American Milking Devons and Icelandic sheep. We also have a few pigs, one goat, a handful of chickens, 3 dogs and 2 cats and a big garden. We love to be outdoors working our land, in rain, snow, or sun. We always have a many different and exciting projects going on. Right now we are building a post and beam addition onto our house. The apple harvest is coming up (and the trees are laden this year). Soon it will be shearing time and washing all that wool.
