Overlooking west coast. Extremely private, quiet and idyllic. Watch surf break from bed deck or spa. Rustic. Flush toilet & hot shower in small rooms beside the studio. Practically off grid. Surrounded by native trees. Bush walks, beach, lake nearby.
Self contained studio overlooking west coast. Extremely private, quiet and idyllic. Lie in bed and watch the surf break. Deck and BBQ. Hot tub with a view. This place is rustic. Flush toilet and hot shower but in small rooms beside the studio. Practically off the grid. A real getaway. Limited cell phone coverage and no TV, just DVD's, books and the sound of birds. 40 minutes drive from central Auckland. Fantastic views. Beautiful grounds full of natives. 3 minute drive to beach. Close to many excellent walking tracks. Track to the Lake is 5 minutes walk away.
You have your own BBQ deck and lawn plus a carpark. The spa pool is yours and it costs $15.00 per day that you use as I have to heat it with LPG. There is a DVD and a collection of DVD's and books, an IPOD port.
Interaction with guests
We live on another part of the property and are around and about. Always happy to welcome you if we are nearby and available on the phone for any advice. We have lots of favourite things we do here at Te Henga and we love to share them with guests. We are here if you need us but most people who stay end up hanging out at the studio because it is set up for relaxing.
Other things to note
Shops are about a 15 minute drive away so it is good to bring what you need. There is a fridge and a very small freezer. I provide tea coffee and basics.
We are on rain water and a septic tank. We really appreciate it if people can be conscious of living sustainably on the property. This means being conscious of how much water you use and also not putting anything down sinks etc that are harmful to environment. This is why we provide all cleaning gear, detergents etc.
I love my friends, family, and cooking great food. I work in the media and the arts and have done so all my life. Am currently working across the Pacific on social change projects and get to go to really unique places and meet fascinating people. Recent passion is sailing and I own a very small yacht. I travel a lot and what I like most about that is meeting the people who live in the place I visit. I'm not a big fan of being in a resort- I prefer something more connected to the place. Holidays are all about chilling out for me but I do like to be reasonably active, walking, swimming, yoga, cycling looking at arts and architecture. I like my place to be tidy and clean and I enjoy quiet but I'm not particularly noise sensitive. I like to laugh a lot and really enjoy my life. I don't need to be entertained by the people I stay with.
