This house is a lovely writer's hideaway. It has a bright, open kitchen with plenty of counter space and cooking supplies. We are renting one bedroom (with queen-sized bed, desk, closet) and one bath with tub. Living room, kitchen, dining. There is a tenant in the downstairs apartment and a resident in one bedroom upstairs. There is a dog on the premises. Located on the West side of town, it has a breath-taking view of Cheyenne Mountain and Pikes Peak.

The space

Great for business travelers (hangers, coffee maker, large dining table, wireless internet), couples, writers or workshops. Laundry available on-site. Wireless internet and Smart TV with Netflix.

Guest access

Upstairs, backyard, front porch. 1 bedroom, 1 bath, laundry room. About 1100 square feet upstairs with kitchen, living, dining area. No access to the downstairs apartment or garage.

Interaction with guests

"Leave no trace" -- strip the beds, take out the trash, but a cleaning service will come by after you leave, so you can focus on relaxing.

Other things to note

Safe, quiet neighborhood. The house is on a hill, so it's a beautiful 15 minute walk to downtown Colorado Springs. I recommend Poor Richard's restaurant, Josh and John's Ice Cream, and the Kimball's Twin Peak movie theater. However, the walk back is up the same hill. If you return late at night or are not accustomed to the altitude I would walk down and Uber / Lyft back. It IS Colorado. =)

Speaking of Colorado. No smoking. No... really. Not even that kind of smoking. Please don't use our house for pot tourism. House is not child-proof. You are welcome to bring small children, but you'll need to take some precautions.

You must also acknowledge
Some spaces are shared - laundry room. Renting one room. Most of the time the common spaces are not shared. You may get lucky. But only your own room is private space.

Karen's place was great. When we got there, every thing was clean and we had a beautiful view of the mountain. The apartment was spacious and comfortable. Overall, we had a very good stay.

Karen's place was great for my eight week stay in Colorado. It had everything I needed, it was clean, comfortable and quiet, and I loved the view out the front window. Karen was a great host, quick to respond to all my questions. 10/10 stay, would recommend to anyone.

Stayed with Karen a little over 2 months. Overall the place was great. Pros: The location (very safe, quiet, and convenient to DT and I-25), The home: Much bigger than what the photos show, very comfy bed, huge kitchen, nice bathroom, and fenced backyard. There is also a lot of space for storage. Karen did a good job stocking supplies. Just be aware that some things in the kitchen are expired (look before ingesting) Cons: If you are bringing a pet, make sure that they do not bark. There is a tenant beneath the home who complains about loud dogs. The home was dusty when I moved in.

I had a great stay at Karen's place. The apartment was clean and had everything you'd need, including amazing views of the mountains. And it's such a great value, especially if nobody else is there and you get an entire apartment for a normal "private room" rate. I walked to downtown every day and it took about 20 minutes. Though I never actually met her, Karen did everything to make sure I was comfortable, gave me all of the necessary contact info and kept in contact during the stay. I would definitely stay here again next time I'm in Colorado Springs!

Host made sure I knew what to expect. She was there to greet me. We had a wonderful conversation. She even showed me where I could find ballroom dancing. The sheets are dreamy soft and the bed comfy. I slept well. Nice kitchen, everything you need. And Netflix on the big screen in the living room. Hope I get to stay there again sometime.
