Upstairs bedroom with queen size bed in artisan built home on ten acres. Enjoy the view over wetland, streams, gardens and wildlife just a half mile from the quaint parish village of Westminster West. Between Putney and historic Saxtons River.

The space

The bedroom offers closets, drawers and shelves as well as a window seat overlooking the gardens and wetland. Hardwood floor, handmade tables and lamps, and personally designed mirrors accent the room.

Guest access

Shared kitchen has gas cookstove/oven, refrigerator, toaster, french press for coffee, and a blender available for use by guests. Living room is available for lounging either on the couch or in another window seat next to the woodstove once the temperatures get chilly. Shared master bathroom near guest room has bath/shower and toilet available to use.

Interaction with guests

If guests would like some suggestions about things to do in the area, I'd be happy to help. I look forward to getting to know my guests as much as makes sense while we cross paths in the house.

Other things to note

There is no cell service right at my house, but I do have WiFi which is available to my guests as well as a landline phone if short domestic calls need to be made from the house. There is cell service that is spotty in the area. House is not child-safe, so please no children under the age of 6.

Gail's place is a gem and the quintessence of an accommodation in Vermont. If you are looking for a quiet, clean and spacious room in a unique and charming house built with straw bale walls, do not hesitate to go there. Highly recommended.

We love to explore new places and spaces, and were drawn to the description of this unique home. I had a hard time deciding which ONE thing I would pick in the AirBnB survey for what I liked most about Gail's place. Stylish? Hand-crafted with wood and stone and dots of jewels throughout. Good communication? Absolutely -- including a prompt message about items I accidentally left behind. Cleanliness? Of course. Value? The price is a bargain for comfortable accommodations in this gorgeous setting. I went with Local Tips because Gail steered us to local farm stands and an artist friend that were perfect for our needs and made us feel at home in the community. Highly recommend, especially for those who appreciate woodworking.

Wow is all I can say. I have never experienced such a beautiful and organic home so lovingly designed and created by an incredibly talented and lovely owner/artistan/builder. I was not expecting to come away from my 1 evening stay being totally inspired and in awe of the possibilities that abound when you put your heart and soul in to your vision, which Gail surely has. This is a real gem and Gail has it all; outstanding hospitality, sparkling clean and gorgeous home in a quiet, peaceful setting, quick & helpful responses, great local tips and much patience with our endless questions about her building process. What a treat, this is seriously one in a million! Thank you Gail!

I had to cancel my visit due to my illness, but I appreciated Gail's welcoming way despite this.

Gail is a sweetheart. She is so caring and compassionate. I felt like I was staying with family the entire time. She anticipated all of my needs and was very accommodating. Her home is beautiful and smells like fresh cut wood. Its surrounded by trees and was about an hour and 15 min scenic drive from Killington Ski Slopes. The room is a great size and very comfortable. The home felt so warm and inviting. There was a lovely fruit basket filled with fresh bananas, peaches and apples and another basket filled with teas, honey and sugar for breakfast in the morning. I could not have picked a better place to stay. I highly recommend this accommodation.

Wonderful place to stay; the architecture of the home itself is impressive, and the setting is peaceful and beautiful. Gail is a warm and generous host who keeps everything very clean and organized... I would definitely recommend her place to other guests.

I’ve lovingly designed and built my crafted straw bale home on ten acres in the rolling hills and valleys of Westminster West. From my own hand constructed cabinetry and furniture to my friends’ hand made stained glass and pottery, there are artisan touches everywhere you turn in the house. I support sustainability with re-use and recycle. A lover of the outdoors, I head into the mountains of Vermont and New Hampshire to hike and backpack while keeping my footprint small out in the wilderness. I socially dance including contradance, cajun and zydeco, swing, two step and Argentine Tango. I’m a classically trained musician playing a variety of instruments. I empower women and girls through teaching woodworking classes while running a custom cabinetry business out of the woodshop at my home. I recently spent a year traveling around the US without a vehicle and found great opportunities to develop new relationships as well as see lovely landscapes.
