Mostly renovated 100 year old house, still a work in progress, walking distance to the University or downtown. Organic garden. Wood floors, freshly painted, friendly home. Fireplaces outside and in, porch-swing, on the bike trail. Mostly student neighborhood, but it's called the student ghetto so it's not suburbia, and can occasionally be a bit noisy on the weekends (especially football game days). Two bedrooms available.

The space

It's a four bedroom house and I try and keep two rooms available for guests and travelers. I live with my girlfriend and a Chesapeake Retriever. The house is 100 years old, freshly painted and nice, but it's still an old house. So if you're looking for shiny new, not the right house for you. The bathroom is shared by the guests. It's mostly a student neighborhood, but it's called the student ghetto. There are also professionals and families too. But I've never had any problems with crime. People walk home and ride bikes till the middle of the night and there's no problems.

Guest access

You have access to the house and garden.

Interaction with guests

I'm relatively available. I work a lot on my sailboat in St Augustine, but if I'm not there the roommate will help out. I work at home a lot so when I'm home I'm available.

Other things to note

PLEASE READ THIS: The bed is a full size bed, not a queen or king size bed, so it can be a little tight. We all share the bathrooms; so no private bath. I just want you to know in advance. The neighborhood is called the student ghetto. So it can get noisy on the weekends.

Lee's place is very cool. It's got a nice cozy vibe. All the furniture was comfortable and the porch was very nice to sit out on and read/enjoy the rain. The bedroom and bathroom were both clean. I enjoyed my stay.

Lee is a great Host, he introduced us kindly to his house! The guestroom are big enough for your luggage and I slept well in the bed! You will get towels from Lee so there is no need to bring some. Lee's home is 10 min away from Downtown and aswell 5-10 min away from Midtown where many bars, restaurants and clubs are! On the weekend there can be a party so you should take this in consideration. I can recommend Lee's home and would stay there again!

Lee has a cool space that is walking distance from downtown, restaurants and local bars. The home is cozy and rooms are spacious. He is a great host. When I come back to Gainesville, I will definitely hit him up!

It is as Lee describes. I found it to be a very happy place to be and not as noisy as Lee stated it could be in the neighborhood. This is not fancy it is comfortable. I will be back.

Relatively quiet and enjoy good conversation with a sense of humor. I had been traveling for the past 30 years or so, but I'm trying to be a reformed traveler. 10 years on my sailboat between Maine and South America, then 15 years as a photojournalist in Eastern Europe and a few years in South America. I bought the house a few years ago and am rebuilding it and trying to make a beautiful garden. There are a few rough edges here and there, the neighborhood is generally quiet but there are lots of students and they can be noisy sometimes.
