The space

After giving concerts with many musicians from all over the world and teaching at several Universities and Conservatories for over 30 years we like to welcome now guests in our entirely renovated monumental early 17th century city farm .
Guesthouse Anno1600 idyllically situated in a quiet medieval street is one of the oldest existing houses in the historic centre of Maastricht , a few minutes walk from the Vrijthof ( the main square ) . In the beautiful natural stone door frame the inscription Anno 1604 is engraved but the house dates back even to the 16th century and has long served as a city farm .
A fortified city like Maastricht had many city farms . In times of war when an enemy army commander - as Louis XIV or Frederick Henry - headed for Maastricht the farmers brought their cattle and grain into the city , and so the population could survive a siege for months .
Hostess Margriet has furnished a part of the farm with taste and transformed to a romantic chambre d'hôte .
Guests are always surprised by the complete silence in the middle of town , but that isn’t so difficult in a medieval pedestrian street that you rather would expect in an Italian town .
. The non-smoking apartment has an excellent big double bed (2X2) , 2 wardrobes , a sitting corner, a writing desk , a dinner table ,cable TV, a fridge, magnetron, and free internet connection . A large and comfortable bathroom is equipped with a shower, toilet ,washing machine ,dryer and hair dryer.
This is the best area from which to explore Maastricht.Just around the corner you will find a variety of restaurants and eateries for every budget and every occasion , and the most interesting shops - and local shops, cafe's ,the main library ,several museums and the river is only one minute walk away. Because of the unique location on a traffic free street we can guarantee an undisturbed night.

Guest access

The railway station where you can also easily park your car is a leisurely 3-4 minute walk. We will try to ensure that you enjoy your stay with our personal attention and advice. Follow the Maas for half an hour to reach Liège, or drive half an hour in another direction to Aachen, Charlemagne's town, where the cathedral has the best mosaics north of Ravenna.
