We really enjoyed Kevin's "humble abode". It was comfortable, quiet and secluded, yet an easy 5-10 minute drive to the shops and restaurants in Banner Elk. The only "problem" we had was the basket of candy; epic willpower failure . All is well, we hiked it off. Highly recommend this cabin!

My wife and I stayed here for four nights in October, which is the perfect time to see the leaves change in the mountains. The house is the perfect size for a couple or even a small family to getaway to the mountains. The bathroom has been remodeled and features heated floors. The kitchen has everything you need to cook your meals or make some coffee. The location is great, only 30ish minutes to Boone, Blowing Rock, and Grandfather Mountain. The Blue Ridge Parkway is also a short drive away, which we took full advantage of during our stay.

Great place to stay and in a great town. Beautiful property. The picture window in the bedroom looking out onto the rock outcrop has to be seen to be believed. Really amazing. Definitely would stay again.

Really neat little place atop a crest with a few little cabins nearby, so you don't have to feel completely isolated. Actually, the cabin was roomier than I expected! I wanted a place with Wifi & washer/dryer (my 2 must haves), but it was really the picture window in the bedroom that made it for me. Living art! I lost track of how much time I spent gazing out that window. I also appreciated all the new stuff - new carpeting in the bedroom, new fixtures in the bathroom (yes, I'm girly like that - the bathroom better be nice!) with heated tiles in the floor for those cooler days (nifty invention, that!) It's a little windy on the roads to the top, but not too bad (I've seen way worse). So it's a 10-15 minute drive back down to the restaurants & shops, but most of the restaurants are high-end & definitely worth the drive. There's an outdoor grill on the front porch, but I haven't learned how to use one yet (next culinary challenge on the learning curve, heh heh), plus modern cooking facilities inside. I just really cannot recommend this place enough. I would definitely return. Great place to beat the heat of summer!

Response from Kevin:
Thanks for your feedback. The best is actually a Queen size, I am guessing you meant a "King bed."

Living part of each week in Banner Elk has changed my state of mind - its a mountain thing in a mountain time. I can relax and change gears like nowhere else. I like to be in nature, I like to fish, ski, hike in the snow, build a bonfire for a crowd or for my special Cuban girl. This mountain makes me feel young. New landscape this year accentuates the rock outcropping - with new grass area and enlarged fire pit. Also painted exterior - I like those that discover this little paradise for the first time, consider Banner Elk your next favorite road trip.
