Two bedroom apartment on the first floor in a corner two-storey house across from Redfern Park, 10 mins from Central station, close to cafes and groceries, big rooms, great light and a beautiful outdoor area for hosting parties or soaking up the sun.

The space

Living room: Moderately sized space with a 3 seater couch and a 2 seater couch. We don't have a TV or a DVD player, but we have a speaker deck that can play tapes and can be connected to a mobile device or laptop. The room gets great light during the daytime.

Kitchen: Four burner gas stove, oven and microwave. Feel free to use our dishes and glasses. My partner and I love to host, and there's enough silverware and plates to host 10-12 people. The workspace is somewhat small.

Outdoor area: This is our favorite part about the house. The outdoor area is big, with a table that can seat 8 people comfortably (and more if you're willing to squeeze tighter), and two sun loungers for when you wish to lie back with a pina colada in hand! We have a washer drier that we keep on the deck, and you're welcome to use it.

Master bedroom: Large room with windows overlooking Redfern Park, where the local footie team trains. King size bed from which to enjoy views of the park.

Spare room: Smaller, with a futon that can be converted into a double size bed.

Guest access

You'll have access to the whole apartment.

Interaction with guests

Since this is our home, we only rent this space when we're traveling ourselves. However, we will always be available by internet, in case you run into any problems or need advice on things to do, or if you just wish to say hello!

Not many rules, apart of course from a general request that you treat our place like you would your own. We have a lot of artwork around the house. In particular, a number of paintings have been done by my partner's father and hold a great deal of sentimental value, so we ask you to treat them with care. We ask that you don't smoke indoors, but feel free to smoke on the deck outside.

Dave and Vij's place is close to bakeries, bottle shops and the Redfern train station. It has a lovely terrace to hang out on and is full of weird and wonderful knick knacks. Their friend Gabor who let us in was very friendly and helpful.

Very nice flat with all you need for cooking. Restaurants and Woolworth are 3 min walk away as the bus stop is. Perfect for discovering Sydney. Quite noisy though, as the bedroom windows are very thin and there is a busy road just down the house. Besides that, it's a great place.

We enjoyed staying in this beautiful (the artwork is amazing!) and comfortable apartment. The Redfern neighborhood has very nice cafes and is a fun place to explore. It is also very easy to access other parts of Sydney by bus and train. The hosts were not in town, but we were warmly greeted and shown around by one of their friends.

An eclectic gem! We were very comfortable at Akshay's home. It's in an excellent location close to the train station, which was great to hop on and take into the cbd, it also had lots of restaurants, bars and cafes in the vicinity. It was a bit warm as there was no air conditioning, but having the beautiful outdoor space made up for it!

The appartment is beautiful with a great terrace which was a big plus. Lively, central neighbourhood. Only downside is that there is no airconditioning, just a single fan, so in summer it does get quite hot inside. communication with the guys was good.

Beautiful apartment in a perfect location! Great cafes and bakery nearby. We didn't meet the hosts, but they were very flexible with check-in/check-out times which was appreciated. Only negative was the sofa-bed mattress which was not very comfortable, but fine if you're only staying a few nights. The big bed was soooo comfy though. All in all, thanks for a lovely stay!

My partner and I moved to Sydney, Australia in early 2015. We used to live in Berkeley, California. We love it here so far. The people are friendly, the city is beautiful, the weather is mostly great, and the ocean is actually warm! I'm an academic, and I travel quite frequently …
