I stayed a week at Ryo's place. It was pretty bad. I didn't meet Ryo. I don't think he speaks english, his messages were unpolite and not easy to understand even when I told him he could write them in japanese. The room was pretty bad too. The isolation between rooms is terrible, it's only a glass and some cardboard. The guy next door couldn't sleep if I had my lights on. I could hear him as if he was next to me. He asked me if I could change to another room, but it was smaller, and smelled, so I didn't. The next day Ryo told me "transfer please", I answered "Do I have to? My current room is better". No answer, it was his last message. Oh, and the room wasn't clean, the mattress had a lot of hair on it. I don't recommand coming to this place, it's exprensive for what it is.

The house is old but it is comfortable, the location is perfect, very near to the Nagoya station. Ryo helps a lot.

I shall try to write a balanced analysis of the Honjin "hovel". Let's start with the positives. The house share is in an excellent and convenient location, just 5 minutes' walk from Honjin subway station and 15 minutes' walk from Nagoya Station and Midland Square, with its myriad of shops, bars and restaurants. There are several convenience stores, restaurants and a supermarket in the surrounding area so we were never short of food and drink. I highly recommend Matsuya, Coco Curry House and Turkish Taste restaurants for delicious and reasonably priced dishes. Although basic and rustic, the room was traditionally Japanese (with tatami mats and sliding doors) and was spacious. The heated toilet seat and bidet option were nice touches. One of the (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN), Yasuhiro, was a very pleasant, polite and friendly man and I enjoyed chatting to him over breakfast each morning. On the other hand, there were several issues with the accommodation - its lack of cleanliness being the most significant. Without exaggerating, it looked like the flat had not been cleaned for several months! All surfaces, such as shelves, floors and tables had dust on them, while the two fridges had distinctively unpleasant odours and even small, dead flies in them! Also, my room was very cold and I became unwell as a result - I had to ask Ryo for an electric heater to alleviate the situation (which I was very grateful for - but perhaps it should have been provided in the first place). Ultimately, I would only recommend a short-term stay in this property (5 nights max). It's in a good location and cheap, but those looking for comfort and cleanliness should avoid it at all costs!

Ryo was really very kind and helpful. He offered to pick me up from the station so my heavy luggage was no problem :). The neighborhood is quiet and 200 m away there is a 100 yen store, also there is a bigger supermarket close by to the shared house. Nagoya station is conveniently near, 15 minutes walking. The kitchen was alright, the room and shower also. All in all it was a very positive experience!

It is a nice big house, but a little bit dirty. The room was big enough for me. Every items that were needed are there. The house is very central, so you can go everywhere very quickly.

Ryo was really cool. He was able to pick me up from the station and was really helpful with getting me settled in. The room was really spacious and everything I needed. The location is also good and centrally located. I ended up leaving early because of a sudden change of plans, but I was satisfied with my stay.
